Ok, here it goes:

I work a couple of hours a week at my brother's computer store. He is new at running a business but has been involved in network design, implementation, yada yada yada for over 14 years, so he has an extensive networking background. He has a guy working for him, not really an employee but someone who fills out a 1099 form for tax purposes. Anyway, this guy is annoying; a high-talker who knows the art of B.S. very well.

This guy thinks nothing of mentioning my brother's shortcomings to our customers during the course of normal conversation. I've called him out on this on several occasions and the guy says he will stop but he hasn't. Let's call this guy Kevin, to make things less confusing. Kevin is trying to reinvent the wheel as far as our necessary paperwork goes and has developed all kinds of forms for the techs (who I am one of) to fill out while working on our customer's PC's. I've managed a computer service center in a previous job with over 14 technicians, so I know what works and what doesn't. This additional paperwork system isn't working all that well. In fact, on Sunday a customer came in to pick up his computer and the paperwork wasn't completed and I didn't know what was done because I hadn't been in since Thursday night. The customer called Kevin at home, because they have that kind of relationship and talked to him. Meanwhile I was busy trying to refund some money to the customer for some memory that he didn't need. After the customer hung up with Kevin, Kevin called me on the store phone. He mentioned that the paperwork wasn't finished and that he thought my brother was going to finish up on it. I told him he could pass the buck off to my brother all he wants but the bottom line is I have the customer here and I can't make heads or tails out of HIS system. I hung up with him and finished the transaction and the customer left.

Now, it's Tuesday and my brother left his email account running. Being the inquisitive person that I am, I read it. An email from Kevin was in there stating that they need to get their paperwork system in order so that there is no further confusion and "I am not getting a call from Dave (that's me) on my only day off in two weeks to hear him tell me I am blaming things on you (my brother) when that is not the case!".

So, now I am in a rage because I really, really want to confront Kevin regarding this and tell him exactly what I think of him and what he can do with his lying bull**** but I don't my brother to suffer the loss of an employee if this guy decides to leave, which I don't think he will but you never know.

What to do, what to do?

I would have a talk with your brother. How does he feel about this guy? Is it having trouble with him too? If so he may see about hiring a new employee.

TALK TO YOUR BROTHER LIKE NOW!!!! BEFORE THIS GUY DOES ANY MORE DAMAGE!!!!
