My son is going to DLR with his High School Band in March. The ticket (parkhopper) portion of his trip is $150 and includes a clinic and performance at DL.

We are going to probably hit up DLR when we are in Anaheim in mid-Feb. We will buy Annual Passes at that time - so when he goes on his Band Trip DS will already have an AP.

Does anyone know how Disneyland handles this kind of situation? Is the cost of the clinic included in the ticket price or is it only a hopper and the clinic is "free"?

I don't have experience with that particular situation.

In almost every case where you get a ticket with something else, not needing the ticket doesn't lower the cost. The alternative is when there is an AP discount.

If it were me, I would ask who ever you are working with to pay for the clinic and pass. Tell them he already has a AP and if there is a discount for not needing to purchase an admission ticket.

Yes, and also make sure that the dates are not blocked out if he has something other than a Premium AP.

This was on the school flyer. Maybe you can call the school and check?

I volunteered as a chaperone to see the clinic - it was really neat. They played a film clip, then had the band sight read the music for the clip, rehearse it a couple of times, and then recorded it and played it in place of the original music. Only downside was due to copyright issues they only let the teacher have a copy of the result and while they could show it they couldn't duplicate it.

Okey Dokey - I have the answer and thought I would post it here - in case anyone else wants to know!

For students with AP's the cost is $32 for the clinic and the performance. The cost of the 2 day parkhopper including the clinic and performance is $150. It seems like a great price for the hopper and clinic and performance. DS is excited.

You know I asked my DD's teacher this same question last year when they discussed going to DL. I was told it didn't matter, I'd have to pay the full amount to the band whether my DD had an AP or not. So you better speak with your child's teacher to be sure.

Brady's Mom, are you going along? They don't let ALL of the chaperones in to watch the clinic, so if you really want to see it, be certain to let your band director know. Lone Peak (yes, *that* Lone Peak) went November 2010 and I loved being able to see the clinic. It's backstage (no pictures, darn it!) and fascinating to watch. I also got to be one of the parents to escort the band from the end of the parade route backstage. You might see if you can do that as well.

Robin - He's at Timpanogos. DH, Me, DS 9 and DS 7 are going with our best friends and their DD8. We weren't planning on seeing the clinic or chaperoning - we just want to go and see them perform (okay, really, it was just a good excuse to go). Plus, we'll be there Tues. thru Sat. so we get 3 extra days. They only get Fri. and Sat.

Although the idea of watching the clinic intrigues me, I might have to ask the band director......
