I'm putting together a gift box full of grilling goodies for my SO. He loves trying different spices, marinades, wood stuff, etc. I, on the other hand, only can make grilled cheese so I'm going into this blindly.

Anyone have recommendations on must try stuff??

Thanks!

I would recommend Penzy's for spices and rubs. There may be one near or you you can order online.

I agree with the Penzy's suggestions. Their spices and seasonings are wonderful!

I would also add a GC to a local butcher shop.

Wire grilling baskets for veggies &/or fish. I use my fish baskets all the time.

Wood planks for fish. I have them but you have to soak them 24hrs in advance of grilling and I always forget. Hm, I might have to get that out.

My choice for flavor is nekkid, so can't really say anything about that however there are SOOO many BBQ labels, marinades and dressings that it is crazy.

TURKEY CANNON, grill a whole turkey in no time at all, Beer Can Chicken kit.

The Man

If you have a Cabellas nearby they have great spices for grilling! My favorite is the pecan honey spice, great on pork. Dh's fav is called mountain man bourbon mix.

Cheap, but a must have to post near the grill. Type this up in Word, print, and laminate...

Rules of the Grill

1) The woman buys the food.

2) The woman makes the salad, prepares the vegetables, and makes
dessert.

3) The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along
with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the man
who is lounging beside the grill - beer in hand.

Here comes the important part:

4) THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL.

More routine....

5) The woman goes inside to organize the plates and cutlery.

6) The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is burning. He
thanks her and asks if she will bring another beer while he deals with
the situation.

Important again:

7) THE MAN TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS IT TO THE WOMAN.

More routine.....

8) The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins,
sauces and brings them to the table.

9) After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes.

And most important of all:

10) Everyone PRAISES the MAN and THANKS HIM for his cooking efforts.

Weber books were mentioned above. The best is Weber's Way To Grill. It covers everything from the basics to advanced techniques. Lots of recipes too. We also use a Thermapen instant read thermometer. Less time with the grill open for stuff you need to cook to a certain inside temperature.

Go to the Central Market nearest to you. They will have every specialty marinade, rub and spice under the sun. I know, my husband used to sell to them.
