Seeking confirmation on status change

I was under the impression that after the 5th sailing, you move to Gold and AFTER the 10th is complete you move to Platinum. Looking at the website today, It shows silver as 1-4 and Gold 5-9. So this leaves me to believe that after the 9th is complete, the 10th when one sets sail would have you as Platinum at the START of the 10th cruise, not AFTER. Can anyone confirm please? Thank you in advance.

No, it’s the number of completed cruises. Otherwise you would be a Castaway Club member on your first cruise. On this page it’s spelled out clearly for every level: https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/why-cruise-disney/castaway-club/

Ugh, they have the correct information and the wrong/confusing information right next to each other on the official page.

We just completed our 10th sailing a couple weeks ago. Our cards said gold when we got on the fantasy. My status now shows as platinum on the DCL website after completing the 10th cruise.

Yes, it's very unclear. I think what that particular spot is saying is "AFTER" 1-4 sailings you're Silver. "AFTER" 5-9 sailings you're Gold, etc.

I don't understand what is unclear. If you haven't sailed yet, you have 0 sailings so you aren't a member of Castaway Club yet and can't be Silver. I guess they could have a column for zero sailings that says non-members get zero benefits but that seems unnecessary to me.

If it said 5th - 9th sailing, for example, that would be contradictory. But 5-9 sailings is indicative of past if saying “You have done” 5-9 sailings.

Since it is not communicating well, perhaps they should have just spelled it out once, as they did on the top row. Not used a different wording. Each probably has confused someone over time.

At least you were correct to start with.
