Seeking advice - graduate/post cp

I did two CPs one in 2010 and 2011, Extended to 2012. Graduated with BA in political science minor in psychology from rutgers. Applied for two PI in management positions only to get to the 2nd interview twice only to be let down. I moved back home to the nj/ NYC area in 2012 and currently work for a marketing company where I'm making decent money.

Here's the deal though... I'm consistently thinking about my time with Disney. I worked there with my long time and current girlfriend and love. I loved the life style, the company, my job. I can't help but think that I was meant to work in a management position. Is there any advice anyone can give me. I considered taking a class and applying for another PI but I don't have time to take another class and can't afford to stop working. Should Disney be a memory that I look at when I look through my pictures or is there something realistic I can do?

Hi there. Please do not feel discouraged. Management internships are highly competitive and take less than 10% of applicants. I think you really need to think about what your career goals are. If management is your end game there are other ways to get there, but it will take a while. I would suggest taking that one class, even if it is online and applying for both the CP and PI's and MI's again. Start with coming back to the company. Will you take a pay cut? Probably, but if you can swing it financially I say do it. If Disney is what you love, find a way to make that happen. (And if you can't because of debt from student loans, figure out how you can do it in the future)

What roles did you do before? What line of business did you want to get into management in. Try to get back in those roles. If you don't get the internship you can get into management by teaming up with a leader and working your way up. It takes longer but is possible.

For example I did 2 CPs, I graduated in May and I am currently doing at PI in Guest Relations. This coming application season I am applying for Management internships in Lodging and Park Operations. If I do not get an MI my plan is to get statused at a resort in concierge or front desk and then work my way up from there, as my end game is to get into management.

Thanks for responding to the thread. Yeah I think it's more of an encouragement thing. My girlfriend is very encouraging it was probably a poor decision for me to return home after my cp, but for personal reasons I had to. I was actually considering applying for a management class at my local community college to kinda boost my confidence. When I was a cp in 2010 I was working quick service at sunset blvd and my 2012 cp I was a driver at Kilimanjaro safaris. So if I were to return for a managerial role I would like it to be in qsr or in attractions.
