Has anyone stayed at a DLR hotel and went to see the Angels play? What is the best way to get there - should we plan on going by taxi?

You can take the OCTA #50 bus (see the schedule inset for a description of the path from the Katella & Howell bus stop to the Amtrak station - Angel Stadium is just beyond that) or ART Route #15. It's only 2 1/2 miles from DLR so a taxi is a good option too.

Does anyone have advice on how practical it is to do one over the other? I couldn't find rates for the taxis... I would think that it wouldn't cost too much and wouldn't have to walk in that case from the hotel.

A few weeks ago, we were at the Honda Center for a convention. The Honda Center is right across the street from Angel's Stadium. We were staying at Desert Inn, right across from the entrance to DL. We walked down to Katella and caught the #50 bus. The fare was $1.50 per person (you need to have exact change). At that time of the evening (around 6:00 p.m.), buses were running about every 1/2 hour.

When we left the Honda Center, it was close to 11:00 p.m. After a certain time (I think around 10:30 p.m.), the buses only run every hour. I didn't want to wait at the bus stop with my 10 year old son. My husband had stayed inside since the convention session hadn't even ended yet. So I asked a security guard where I could get a cab. There were several lined up outside the arena. I assume they would also be plentiful outside the stadium. The fare to get back to Harbor near the DL entrance was $12.05. I felt if was worth it to get my son and me back to our hotel. My husband ended up staying until just after 11:30 and had to wait for the 12:30 a.m. bus!

The buses are a good option, but just be aware of the schedule. You can look it up on the OCTA website. You can even put in your starting point and destination and it will design a route for you.
