Safety Tip # 2: See something, Say something!
We cast members here at Disney World are committed to your safety. Safety is our number one concern and we will do everything in our power to make sure that Disney World remains a safe place for everyone. But here at Disney World, even though you (the guests) are on vacation at the happiest place on earth, doesn't mean that accidents DO NOT happen. Most people are surprised when we say that. Of course we want our world to be one like no other. We want our world to be different, where nothing goes wrong, where fantasy takes over and reality disappears, at least for a little while. But even in a perfect world, things go wrong. People misbehave, things happen, and people can get hurt. The reason you see it happen so little and most of the time, not at all, is because when something DOES happen, all 60,000 of us spring into action to make sure each situation is resolved promptly, efficiently and completely.
What is the point of me telling you all of this? Well, I am here to help you, the guest, help us out! It's not the responsibility of only cast members to keep our world safe, it is yours as well. If you see your child sitting on a rope or up high where it is possible for them to be injured if they fall, prevent it! Get that child off that rope! Do the attractions cast members a favor and buckle up your seat belt and make sure that lap bar is good and secured! Do the custodial cast members a favor and walk a few extra feet to put the trash in the trash can. But it stems into much more than that. We simply ask that if you see a safety concern, to please report it to the nearest Cast Member or member of security. If you see an "unattended bag", unattended meaning that no one is near it, it is not with a stroller and just seems to be sitting there as if it decided to plop itself down on the bench or ground looking to cause trouble, report it! If you see a person acting suspiciously, report it! It doesn't take much to help keep the world around you safe.
These are all pretty basic things that most people on a famous Disney
vacation tend to overlook. They think that this place is "Disney World.... where NO ONE gets hurt no matter what they do". Wrong! This place, as perfect as we would like it to be, is as real as they come. Safety concerns stem from all over the place. We simply ask that as a Walt Disney World Resort guest, that you help us keep the world and all of the guests and cast members within safe. If you see something, take a few minutes out of your day to say something! It could mean the difference between a good day and a bad day! Thanks for reading and have a magical day!
