Security Precautions???

I just noticed in another post, someone made mention about "after bag check" getting into DL.

Is there some sort of security check done? If so....are the lines as bad as our Phoenix Airport Security check????? The lines are AWFUL.....but needed.

Just wondering if the lines to get into DL or DCA are longer than usual. And if they are organized in this endeavor. Thanks!

They've had the bag check for quite a while, and the lines can get long sometimes, but it usually moves very quickly. It helps to have your stuff ready to check--they really just glance in and send you on your way.

There is a check, but it's not as thorough as the security at an airport. There are no metal detectors or anything. They just look and feel your bag and let you through.

They used to check them right at the entrance gates, but they have recently moved them to the sides of the plaza between the two parks.

It's really a quick process and I've never seen the lines get too long for it.

Now that they've moved it the lines don't get too long, but it can be a pain. They need to have it a little more organized than it really is. They also need a dedicated no bag line. Depending on crowds they rearage the tents. As you approach the entrance plaza you approach a tent and get into a line, open your bags and have them checked. By having the whole entrance plaza fenced off this allows you to go between DCA and DL without having to have your bags rechecked everytime. The only problem is if you want to walk from Harbor to Downtown Disney or vice versa (or you're a CM and having to walk through the entrance plaza)

Which still isn't really a big deal.

It will not be as bad as the lines at the Phoenix Airport. In fact, I can think of many places where the security lines are easier than the Phoenix Airport...like the White House, Pentagon, Ft. Knox....(is it apparent that I hate the Phoneix Airport?)

Whewww....good to hear that! I flew to Chicago from Phoenix, and the Phx airport was HORRIBLE. Chicago O'hare was more organized. Although I understand and agree with the security checks, I was hoping that Disney had a good and efficient system.

Yes....I too HATE the Phoenix airport, but for me there is no getting around it besides driving. That is why we will be driving to Disneyland. The hassle of flying just not worth dealing with at Sky Harbor!
