Security of belongings at the Pool

The reality of life in this day and age is that someone may the stuff left by the pool. However people won't be as likely to take something they can't see. I have been at the pool at the GF and seen iPods, Kindles, phones just lying on top of towels on empty chaises. Just throwing a towel of top of an electronic would make a huge difference.

We purchased the vacation vault for our last trip to Disney and it was really nice to use. We put our room keys and phones in it and attached it to the chair. I think someone would be noticed carrying a chair away. :lmao:

I bring my sunscreen, mug, KTTW, CC, sunglasses and shoes. The sunglasses and KTTW and CC go in the water with me (in a water wallet). If someone steals my sunscreen, mug or shoes, that's just pathetic! I won't worry about those, but I don't bring electronics to the pool, I figure they could get splashed just as easily as they could get stolen so I just do without.

In eight trips, I have only ever had one thing stolen at a resort pool and it was at the wilderness lodge in 2005. A pair of leather sandals went missing and after checking everyday in the lobby and with the lifeguards they were never returned. Very strange, never another incident.

Good advice really, just having your own biz-electronics are the reason we can enjoy going to WDW at all.

When we go to the pool, we take a drawstring bag with us to keep our belongings in.

We take room keys, a little bit of cash (like $10), towels and mugs. But we also have to have my epi pens, inhalers and benedryl just in case so we always have to have a bag to keep the epi pens in. It is rare that we are all in the pool at teh same time but if we are, we put the bag under a towel.

Thsi last time however, we stayed at pop and we mainly used the bowling pin pool (it was the pool right next to the building where our room was and never crowded) so we could always see our stuff.

Is this locked to the chair, or just hanging from the chair? I'm just wondering if Disney would have a problem with something cabled to their pool chairs.

Its hanging but it is locked-I'm sure you could ask. I thread my laptop bag strap through the chair (would slow a thief down) and have never been asked about it-as far as they know its locked on. I would actually still cover it with a towel, not so Disney doesn't see it (which they then won't), but for further safety and to keep it cool. I suspect they will be selling them one day-for a lot more of course.

This won't help if they become popular. A $20-$30 pair of cutters will go right through the cable.a

Enough people start using this and thieves will know where to get the best stuff.

Only a few people use it and it won't be worth bringing tools.

Yea kinda true-but I'll take my chances over nothing, just walking off with stuff is not as noticable as cutting a cable, they like low hanging fruit first. I would not leave this and go back to my room though. The cable does look a little small-a bigger one would really slow them down IMO.

Or an alarm if its cut.
If the circuits opened an alarm would be easy, your combination would simply disable it-but if opened (cut) without the combination it goes off.

They don't dig around for it there. They just pick up the bag and look through it where noone sees them.

There was just an email read recently on the DisUnplugged podcast from someone who had their bag stolen at one of the waterparks. Several other people were hit that day too.

We had stuff stolen from our pool bag at BB in 2006. Security told us that day that other people's bags were taken then too. Now we always use a locker at the waterparks.
