This may be old news, (and I did look back a few days at posts) but due to the attacks in London, the security level has been raised to "Orange" which means longer security lines at airports and more scrutiny of luggage and carryons.

Give yourself plenty of time at airports and double check the TSA security list for prohibited items. Instead of just confiscating unallowed items, they may actually fine you, or worst yet, arrest you!!!

The "orange" is only for mass transit. I am not even sure "mass transit" means the airport, but do give yourself extra time.

CarolA is right. It was just for our mass transit system, which means subways, other rail (MetroNorth, Amtrak) and busses. It was not elevated at airports, but that is not to say that security has not been heightened.

I would get to any airport at least 2 hours ahead of time. That way you have plenty of time if there are long lines at the ticket counter or security.

When we fly we always get to the airport around 2 hours early. Especially when flying out of a major hub like Chicago (which we usually do), NY, Orlando. It is just better to be safe and early than sorry.
