Security / bag check lines?

Just wondering if we should expect bag check lines at US / IoA?

I wasn't planning on taking anything in that couldn't fit in our pockets but after reading about the water rides ... we may just want to take in a change of clothing. I don't mind a sprinkle or two but a complete soaking? DH, bless his heart, said we could all just wear our swimsuits. Yeah, I'm not into scaring small children.

Anyhow, "the girls" need a tad more support than what my swimsuit could offer for the day. Lazing around the pool is one thing but after a few turns on the coasters ... well, we just don't want to go there okay?

The bags are checked in the "main hub" between the parking garage and CityWalk.

i should specify that i came from hrh to the park.
outside the hotel path security does look at any bag you have.
i also had my waist pack checked after i went thru the ticket gate.

Ditto what metro said and this year in July the checks were pretty superficial, even with the very small queues we seen at 8.30 when we were checked.
Through in under a minute easily.
Can't speak for those late arrivals

This is correct. The exception is during specially ticketed events such as Halloween Horror nights where they check it right before the turnstiles also. If you are staying onsite and, thus, would not be going through the parking hub, the checks are on the path. Not sure if or where they check it if you are taking the boats over from the resorts.

when i take the boat over from the resort, i am checked after i enter the park thru the turnstile.
from hrh when i walk, it is on the path by the studios.
when i stayed at rph last year, the check for ioa was in the park after i entered.

They haven't been doing the bag check at turnstiles for quite awhile.

things change and i guess that's a good thing.

when we stayed at rpr in June, they checked bags at the end of the path to enter CW and when i went from hotel to parks via boat, they checked before i got on the boat at rpr

All in all, it doesn't sound like some of the bag searches I've seen at Disney. Honestly I think some people take everything in except the resort kitchen sink. And I've always gotten stuck behind them.

I got spoiled once DS7 quit needing a stroller - we've not had to go through security. We just stuff the cameras in our pockets. I've liked not having to go through the security lines at Disney.

But I'm not too keen on the idea of wearing a swimsuit all day or walking around wet after the water rides so dry clothes in a bag for me. Men and boys have it so easy - no chafing or having to worry about gravity.

The bag checks are no big deal...most times they don't even check ALL the comparments. I've never encountered a line at the bag check on the way into the park either..... I think because it's at the entrance to CW (from the hotel) and people staying onsite are SO staggered when they arrive.... (Now, I'm not an expert if you're staying off-site, cuz I never have)

Probably to prevent hijacking it...

Always wonder if they're looking for contraband food or weapons - street or of the mass-destruction variety

Untill the park forbids BS (no thongs please male or female); you'll can expect to get a bit of an eyeful my eyes, they burn.

Talk about eyes burning - while we were in the Smoky Mountains I saw a 20ish young girl sunning herself. Okay no worries, lots of people swim in the Little Pigeon River, fish, go tubing ... except she was out on a large boulder in a teeny weeny black bikini bottom and no top. Thankfully I was the only 1 in our car to see her, especially since we had 4 kids with us. That was last month and I think my eyes are still burning!
