Security at Poly

How long does security typically take before you get on the monorail at Poly? The only day I was able to get a fast pass for SDMT was on our last morning. Our plane leaves around 4:00, so I figure Magical Express will pick us up around 1:00. My DD really wants to try this ride for the first time, so we’ll try to snag a FP earlier in our trip. But this would be a last resort.

Would it be feasible to go into MK that morning? We usually stay at a moderate and there just never seemed to be enough time to do a park on the last day. But being so close to MK makes me really tempted to hop over there for one last goodbye!

What time is your FP? If it's early in day you should have plenty of time to get to MK from Poly - even with security - and be back in plenty time for your pickup time at 1pm. I would allow even extra time before FP for any unforeseen delay with travel time. pixiedust: for your DD!

Sure. We always rope drop. If you get there at 745, get on main street at 8, (assuming a 9am open) you can get a good number of rides in and head out at 1130.

You could also try for a BOG PPO breakfast. If you get there and eat and get out you can line up for sdmt and get in front of the rope drop pack.

You’ll be fine, even with an overly exaggerated security wait time I’ve never waited longer than 5 minutes? It’s more the monorail itself that has the wait, and even that feels like it comes every ten minutes.

Waiting for and riding the monorail itself is more likely to eat up time than Poly security. You could also take the little boat over to MK instead of the monorail, but either way I think you’ll have time to ride before you have to leave.

We'll often go hit MK for one last time on departure day from Poly if we have a late flight. Since check-out is 11, we pack our things and either call bell services to come store our bags, or take them out front to bell services ourselves, then head to the park.

I've done it where were didn't pack up and thought we'd just go "for an hour or so" but inevitably feel rushed to get back to Poly before 11.

Have fun!

Thanks! We have family members who are staying longer, so at least we can put our luggage in their room before we go. This should help, so we won’t have to worry about storing it or being back by check-out.
