Hi there,

What is security like at Disney Resorts, in particular, the OKW? Just wondering.....

Thanks for any info.

I don't know about Old Key West, but since 9/11 we have stayed at the All Star Music, All Star Movies, All Star Sports, the Contemporary, and the Polynesian and they have all had the same level of security - the guard at the gate asks for your photo id and your confirmation. I guess if you don't have a confimation, then they check their list. There doesn't seem to a larger than normal presence of guards throughout the resort. They are still checking all bags entering the parks.

Not sure what you want to know. They have the guard at the entrance gate who monitors the comings and goings. They also have security who patrols the grounds in cars. I'm not sure whether this is only at night or during the day as well.

I'm also not sure whether they may have additional security measures such as cameras and/or microphones in strategic public areas around the resort. I know they have this type of security around the CBR grounds.

When we stayed at the Polynesian last month, we frequently saw security guards walking the grounds.

We saw security walking the grounds at CSR last week. It the first time I've notice that before or at least that I can remember.

I wonder if any are plain clothed. When we were at the pool, my DW and I were talking under an umbrella table drinking our daquiri's and margarita's (oh, that's a different story), and heard a thump on the ground, the sound a head makes when hitting concrete is a sound you don't forget if you have kids. As we turned, we heard a father apologizing to his DD (maybe 4 years old). We thought maybe he had knocked her down while walking back to his table because he was carrying a food tray. Out of nowhere, a CM wearing regualr clothes shows up with a radio asking how she is doing, requesting she seek medical attention and having them come to their room. The little cry was crying and I over heard that she received a good size bump on her head. (I hope she is okay). But what amazed me the most was the fact that this CM was on the seen as soon as they got back to there table. He wasn't a lifeguard or worker at Siestas. He stayed with them as they went back to the room and then came back to the pool area looking around. I thought they provided great care for the little girl. We over heard after that the little girl may have been on her father's back or shoulders which would make a painful fall since he was around 6 ft tall.

Thanks, everyone.

We were just wondering how safe the resorts are and whether we have to have photo ID on us at all times. Sounds like maybe some of the other "guests" are really looking out for all of us. I think this is a very good thing.....

P.S.
Buzz2001: Sure hope that little lady is ok. Nice to know help was there immediately.

I was at OKW last week. Was not asked for photo ID when we arrived, I just said we were checking in and he waived us through with a "welcome home" (first time in 5 trips as a DVC member :) ). The rest of the time we were waived through with our parking pass. Parked at BWV 3 times, only asked for ID the last time, on Friday morning. I noticed more guards in the gift shops, there was one at BWV on Thursday night. The park guards seemed more lax than December, just a quick look in the bag. I did notice more uniformed guards walking around the parks.
