How do you get rid of it. tried Malwarebytes but it didn't work. Anyone have a remedy????

I found this which lists the registry keys that need fixed. To be honest though whenever I remove a virus I wipe the drive and reinstall Windows from scratch. It is impossible to know if you got 100% of any virus out especially if it hooks the kernel, the TCP/IP stack, or something else low in the system.

As long as you have all the data backed up it doesn't take all that long.

psst Frank-6 in 10 people's eyes glazed over when you said TCP/IP stack:lmao:

only 6 in 10? I would have put it higher...

True. Lets put it this way for those 6:

It is somewhere that would make fixing the computer practically impossible to anyone let alone anyone who has no idea what it even is. Just be safe and do a clean install. It is a good idea to do a clean install once every couple of years anyway.

Simple...buy a mac

OS X is no more or less secure then Windows. It offers much less of an attack surface due to it's paltry market share so few viruses are written for it. Security through obscurity is not really security at all.

Malwarebytes or Superantispyware has always gotten rid of the fake antivirus crap for me.

Just make sure to reboot in safe mode and update before scanning. If not in safe mode, you may not get rid of the process currently running that looks to see if it is missing and reinstalls itself as soon as you are done scanning.

Ok, I downloaded SuperAntiSpyware and ran it. It found 86 items and delted them all. When i went to start Internet Explorer these is waht happened.

In my toolbar is says I am connected to the Internet.

When I try to pull it up, I get:

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

Then there is a button to push that says:

Diagnose Connection Problems

Click on that and it says:

- Windows cannot connect to the Internet using HTTP, HTTPS, or FTP. This is probably caused by firewall setting on this computer.
- Check the firewall settings for HTTP port (80), HTTPS port (40) and FTP port (21).
- You might need to contact your Internet service provider (ISP) or the manufacturer of your firewall software.

The tabs in SUPERAntiSpyware are:

- Scan your computer
- Schedule scanning
- Check for updates
- Manage quarantine
- Preferences

Under Preferences there is:

- General and startup
- Scanning control
- Real-Time protection
- Hi-Jack protection
- Statistics/Logs
- Repairs
- Updates
- Help

I tried both of these repairs with no luck.

Under Repairs there are several repair actions which may be performed. A couple examples I think might be related to firewall are:

- Internet Zone Security Reset
- Remove Internet Explorer Policy Restrictions

Now what should I do????

Install another browser (%20%20I%20was%20TRYING%20to%20figure%20out%20if%20I%20could%20tag%20DS%20in%20photos%20and%20have%20ONLY%20those%20pics%20visible%20to%20his%20friends%20without%20them%20being%20able%20to%20see%20my%20whole%20album.%20If%20that%20IS%20possible,%20I%20can%27t%20figure%20out%20how%20to%20do%20it.%20%20[/QUOTE]"]Firefox or Chrome) and see if you can connect to the internet with either of those. You'll have to use a different computer to go online and download the installer files via the links above.

It isn't uncommon to remove a necessary part of IE when removing a virus. This is one of the many reasons I pretty much just reinstall Windows from scratch when a computer gets infected. If you are running Vista or Windows 7 you can download and install the IE9 Beta which should overwrite the missing files and repair whatever the problem was with IE. You can also check out the repair instructions on this page for IE8.

Unfortunately the way IE integrates with Windows makes it hard to fix problems after an infection.

Man i have said this a thousand times before-Macs are not all that-they are NOT virus proof-and we have two that are hard wear lemons. Nothing takes the place of good security practices-and reloading when you get an infection.
