Can someone explain the secret porthole rooms to me? What category are they and where are they located? Can you request these rooms specifically?

Thanks- I would have searched for this information but it seems the search function is not working.

I agree with RickW, check out Barb & Tonys site for pictures and explainations. Its great.
Basically they are the category 10s on deck 5. They actually have a port hole, but are sold as inside staterooms because the view is obstructed by life boat equipment.
And yes, you can request one(or any room for that matter). We requested ours and got it.
Good luck!

As usual, this group is awewome and oh, so informative!

We had a Catagory 10 room reserved for our April 6 cruise and thanks to this board, decided to call a see if there were any secret porthole rooms left...

Lucky for us, there was and they made the switch for us!

Can't wait to see it! :bounce:

two4ruff,
Which one did you get?
Just be aware that if you got one of the adjoiners, there is potential of noise from your nextdoor neighbors. But the free porthole is usually worth it!

We got room #5522 which, I believe, is a connecting room. Hoping the noise won't be a problem, but the excitment level in my family is SO high right now, I doubt the threat of any noise would be a concern!!

Can't wait to look out a window and see blue water instead of white snow!!

:D

Inkognitto: Are the connecting rooms really that noisy? From the brochure it looks like a good portion of the rooms in all categories connect to another. I've not read about complaints. Are the doors really that thin? Thanks for any info!

And on the origional question, just ask for a cat. 10 room on deck 5. The secret portholes are the only #10's on that deck. DCL will sometimes say that it does actually have a porthole, sometimes they say it does not, and I think I read here that once they even told someone it had been covered by a big mirror. Good luck in getting one. :)
