We were in 5524 last cruise. A good thing about that room was the steamer trunk, a bad thing was the connecting door (white noise machine took care of that). How was the noise in 5520? Do you hear the CM's using the door across the hall very much at night? Do you think we'll need the white noise machine again?
I didn't hear the door across the hall, but I DID here the people in the next room at night..our headboard was on the same wall as theres and they were VERY loud.
I never heard them any other time, just if I was laying in bed and they were talking...they talked very loud! I had earplugs so that took care of it

I didn't miss the steam trunk. It felt like there was more room at the end of the bed to move around.
I clipped the curtains together w/a hair clip to make sure the light stayed out. Youngest DS wakes w/ the sun & I like to sleep in a little on vacation.
I only noticed noise from the door across the hall on the last night when they were moving everyone's luggage in there.
I LOVE this location! Don't tell too many people. These SPH are less and less of a secret & harder &* harder to get.
Enjoy my old room until I get it back in June 2009.
Can someone fill me in here... what is special about these rooms?? just in the beginning of planning a cruise for nov 09 on Disney wonder.... give me lots of tips please a newbie.

We have the connecting SPH's for our next cruise...looking at the pictures there it looks like one of them has a significantly better view than the other. Both have a better view than your standard cat 10 though so I'm not complaining!

They are what some other cruiselines would call "Obstructed View". But there are only 6 of them (3 on each side of each ship on deck 5). I would guess that there's not enough of them to create their own booking category so that's why DCL just lumps them in with their highest inside category! Because there are only 6 of them they usually sell out pretty quick and should be the first Cat 10's to go!
Ah - we stayed in 5520 on our first 2 Disney cruises and loved it - no problems with noise, light outside and we didn't ever know the other SP rooms had a steamer trunk so we never missed the fact that we didn't have one - and we managed to fit all of our clothes in the closet and drawers. I tried to book this room for our 3rd cruise but it wasn't available so we moved up to a Cat 6 and decided to stay with that for our upcoming 4th cruise. But I do fondly remember 5520 since it was our very first DCL stateroom.
Thanks for posting these! We have this room for our 4-night in Sept. '09 .
The steamer trunk shouldn't be an issue-since it's only a 4-day we will have much less clothing.
