Secret Green Club - whatever number thread

I was just looking at the art of Animation resort for July 19-26. Waiting for DS to call to say if GF will join us. I feel anxious about planning, but want to go so much. If we go, DH and I will be swinging through Boston on the way home for a convention.
Sounds cool! If we go to DW it would be in August, so that is out on meeting you! maybe when you come a bit father north & east?!

Booked Art of Animation today. There are 6 of us going, so we do need the suite. It's a Finding Nemo suite! (They need a bouncing Dory smilie here).
That does sound great! Can't wait to see your pictures from there. What are you looking forward most to do, see or eat while in DW this time? And you know in July, the Brazillian tours groups are out in force there.

Hi, Michelle! I am anxious to hear what Danielle thinks of the AoA as well. Where are you staying on your two upcoming trips?? You must be SO excited!

We are going up Saturday afternoon, having a late lunch/early supper at TRex for Meag's birthday, and then spending Sunday at Animal kingdom at her request. She is super excited to be in charge of where we go, etc. since it is her birthday trip. I am not sure if we will end up at Epcot Saturday night to see the flower and garden festival or possibly over to Universal to try and catch Mardi Gras beads, I told her we could do either of those, or just spend a bit of time at DTD and then go back to the hotel for pool time, which she ADORES! Not really 100% sure where we are staying yet, debating between the Royal Parc suite hotel or possibly Worldgate Resort, or possibly just go to the AllStars for the night, anything is possible. (Allstars is about double the price of the Worldgate and is about $30 a night above the suite hotel too, though).
That sounds like so much fun! Any and all of it. I so envy you being close to the World, but not sure I'd enjoy the heat & humidity at this time of my life!

hi :wave2: Back atcha Brandi! How is the work week going?

Well at least I can work, and I have a job to come back to right? Now would I rather be home....YES!

David is still celebrating... Until Friday...

have a wonderful day!

 I would love to be home to, or at least out of debt enough not to have to work so much. But we all love our trips & travel!

July is about the only time we get to go because of our work schedule. The tour groups were there last time, and didn't cause much trouble. We just had to hustle to get in line before a big group poured in ahead of us.
I don't know what I'm most looking forward to. I haven't even started my research yet, except for the hotel. I'm just so happy we're going.

I think the enforced fastpass times will help with that too. As much as it is a pain with ADR's I think it will avoid large groups tying up the FP return lines. We ran into that a couple of times when we were there during Pop Warner..there is no way all 200 peeps that got in line in front of us all had the same return time.

Heather, I think you are right, the enforced FP time might actually improve the situation in regards to the tour groups. We MOSTLY went inside the window anyway, so I'm not too stressed about that. This weekend is likely the busiest time of year that I will ever have been at Disney though, so I guess we will see how that goes! Meagan says she wants to try to go to Epcot tomorrow night, so we can ride Test Track again before it goes down for refurb, so I guess we may see what the FP times/standby are, I know she checked it last night @ 6:30pm and Test Track was at 90 minutes standby on her phone app.

For trip #1 I am staying at the Best Western DTD - Onsite was just too much $ for this trip .. on trip #2 - Hubs first trip - we are staying at the Pop!

Meag sounds like she is going to have lots of fun!!

Heather and Kristi - at first I was a bit upset as I like to use mine a little later sometimes but the more I thought about it, it just makes more sense to use it at the right time - and I couldn't believe that announcement made our local news a week or so ago! I almost fainted when they said they had some Disney news .. Haa

From Disney parks site:

A few weeks back I gave you a sneak peek at the Disney Princess Dooney & Bourke collection that released at Disney’s Fit for a Princess Expo during the Princess Half Marathon at Walt Disney World Resort. The Disney Princess Dooney & Bourke Collection was a hit on the Disney Parks Blog and was one of the hottest items at the event.

Fantasy purses! Enjoy:hug:

Brandi, they haven't released exact dates, but they are forecasting it down from April through September for refurb. They are redoing, adding interactive displays, etc from what we hear. It is still one of our faves before they do anything else to it.

So we ended up getting a great rate of $87 per night for the Westin on Universal Drive (right by the convention center). We liked the hotel in a lot of ways, but we had a few points that made it one we will likely not plan a return for; 1)REALLY bad water pressure in the rooms, the tub took 20 minutes plus to fill even halfway close to enough for a bath, and Rick said his shower was really low pressure, too. 2)pool staff not enforcing rules/rowdy guests (which I know can happen anywhere, but they had a bunch of dance groups there, as young as 6 year olds, and there were about 30 kids between 6-12 years old that we completely unsupervised running around, filling the hot tub, plus several adults that were completely drunk and carrying their beers in the pool and hot tub (including taking them open with them when they "fell" under in the hot tub full of 11 & 12 year olds). 3)extra charges- they charge $15 for internet which we didn't pay, $13 for self parking or $20 for valet + tax on the parking, and they had a couple bottles of water in the room that clearly said complimentary, but they charged $2 per bottle on the final bill. But on the plus side, gorgeous property, very friendly, we had a 1 bedroom suite, beds were really comfy, bathroom was HUGE.
We ended up hitting DTD, had our "dinner" at 3 at T Rex, Meag did a build a dino (don't know when she'll outgrow the stuffed animals, I swear she has hundreds, but it was her money), then the kids wanted to do the design a t, so we went down there, they both did that with their allowance money. While waiting on the shirts, we walked to guest services to get Meag's AP replaced as she had lost her lanyard which had her pass in it, then went to Goofy's candy to kill a little time, Rick and the kids made themselves a treat (marshmallows for Meag, rice krispie treat for Catie, and pretzel rods for Rick). Picked up the shirts, by this time it is almost 6:30, so we headed back to the car, drove to the hotel and checked in, and decided that we would rather swim that night, after which we ordered pizza through the hotel for a late snack and headed to bed. We had an 8:25am ADR for Tusker House, which was as good as usual, but I think I need to quit the buffets, paying $135 for a buffet breakfast is crazy high to me. When we go to non buffets we share meals, or like Catie and I split appetizer at T Rex, etc. so it is just not economical, especially since Meag literally ate 1 chocolate croissant, 1/2 banana, 1/2 donut, 1 Mickey Waffle (kidsized), 1 slice bacon, 4 spoonfulls of rice krispies. It is insane. But anyway, we did the safari, still the old version with Little Red, which is good with Meag, she loves that little elephant. The animals were out and active, with the exception of the lion and the cheetahs, but they rarely are out where you can see them, or awake, for that matter. Headed to EE, where Rick rode single rider, while we got fast passes for later. Hit Dinoland, my kids LOVE Primevil Whirl, and Catie loves Triceratops Spin, then Rick and Catie went to Dinosaur (meag is scared of it) while Meag and I headed for the boneyard. She ended up spending about an hour there, Rick and Catie came and got the fast passes for EE and went back to ride that too, after which Meag decided she did not want to do Lion King this time, so we headed out of the park @ 11:45am. We stopped at the McDonalds there for lunch, then went to Epcot. The crowds weren't bad there really, TT was listing 60 minutes, and I got in that line anyway, since that was what she wanted to ride especially. It would have actually been about 45 but the ride went down for about 20 minutes. But Spaceship Earth was 5 minutes when we got there, and also at 6ish when we were heading towards the exit (rode twice), Seas was walkon, so was Figment and Living with the Land, and pretty much everything in Innoventions. We spent a LONG time in Innoventions, they did every activity in there, I think, maybe more than once in some cases for Meag (she and I stayed there while Rick and Catie went to ride Mission Space), and spent about an hour in the Project Tomorrowland area after Spaceship Earth the second time, they love all those games/activities in there too. We stopped at my sister's house on the way out of town to pick up Meag's birthday present, she got the Hermione Granger wand and a couple Universal tank tops, which she was excited about, went through Taco Bell for a quick supper and hit the road for home @ 7:30. We got home @ 9:15, and Meag went straight to bed, the rest of us weren't far behind her, I think we were all out by 10, which is really early. The girls are off school today, and got up @ 8:30, so are having a relaxing morning at home on their own. My mother MAY come get them this afternoon and bring them over to her house to swim in her community pool, she wasn't sure what the schedule looked like.

Thanks, it really was a great trip! One of the things I have come to appreciate about being here is that I never feel like I have to try to fit things in, we do whatever everyone wants to with the time we are there, and figure we can always catch the other stuff another time. It makes the whole process SO much more fun/less stressful.

AoA looks so awesome. Take a lot of pictures I would have liked to stay there but couldn't justify the price. I plan on going there to check it out when I am there in August. I was shocked that a garden view for 5 at POR was cheaper :confused3 by a lot than AoA when I looked.

:wave2: Hi PD! I came on here to search on a specific topic, and went to read in this thread and realized that the last post I read was in June 2011. It's fair to say I skipped ahead.

:wave2: Tara! AoA was actually the least expensive that worked for our party of 6 adults. FW cabins are too far from HS and Epcot, and MK doesn't mean much to us because it's so much like DL. I had been hoping for BCV, but it's all booked up. It would have been about $3000 more, so in my Dis math, that's $3000 for me to play around with (not really, but it would be nice)

Morning everyone... I go to the Dr today to more x-rays and finally find out how much longer I am in this boot!

I am so ready!

:hippie:

Danielle, I think you will love AoA, and Catie wants to invite herself on your trip, LOL.

Brandi, good luck getting out of that boot!!!

Tara!!! Nice to "see" you!

PD, hi!

Brandi - Hope you're bootless soon.
Kristi - The more the merrier! Does Catie know we're school teachers? Kids tend to avoid us in the summer:teacher:

Well that was the best birthday present ever... I have been given the boot from the Dr. So the Dr, said I have to wear the boot for another week only during commuting and wear a tennis shoe after that, then the following week I am just in a tennis shoe.

Whoop Whoop!

Woo Hoo! That boot must be horrible in this heat!
