ANYONE EVER ABLE TO BOOK THOSE SECRET PORTHOLE CABINS AT CHEAP RATES ? Read somewhere about those special deck 5 secret obscured portholes booked cheaper as inside because of the obscured view ? How did you get it and from which service ? Trying to book our first cruise and I think one of those would be GREAT !!:Pinkbounc :bounce:

You have to book the SPH cabins very early. We have one for the 12/18/04. I booked the cruise last June thru DU.
Good luck.

We have one for May. We booked it in November 2002.

Yes, they are hard to get. I tried to get them for our trip in Feb 2005 a couple of weeks ago- GONE. Although I could have gotten them for June 2005- but we decided not to travel then (also cost more in June!)
So apparently they go really early- like as soon as the dates are available to book or perhaps even before that -as I know some TA's can put people on a waiting list for certain rooms/categories....

we have stayyed in them a couple of times and feel it is a good option for your first cruise.... was for ours ....

We have them booked for December of 2004. We booked ours Feb. 5, 2003. Way early!!! The cast member told us when I booked them, that I got the last 2 rooms!

We have a SPR for our cruise in March 2005. We booked when these dates were first opened up in October 2003. So we got the early booking rate, plus the room we wanted. Now we just have to wait.:sunny:

We had one in September for a 3 night cruise and it was very nice (we had only sailed in Cat. 11s before).

We have one booked for a 7 night next September, and for a 4 night on Dec. 19, 2004 and just recently booked one for a 4 night in September 2005.

It seems like it is easier to book them for the 3 or 4 day cruises than the 7 night cruises. They are nice, but no matter what room you get it is just nice to be on the ship. The secret porthole is just a little extra magic!

We have two adjoining secret pothole rooms for Jan 4th. Its a LOT less expensive for a family of 5 than a single category 4 room for 5.

Westjones - how did you book for 09/05? dates not on the website yet -- looking for 12/05 --

Dasha - what are the adjoining sph room numbers?

Thanks!

We have 5022/5024, but 5522/5524 are also adjoining secret porthole rooms.

We have them for our January 4, 2004, 4 day cruise and also made a January 29, 2005, 7 day cruise reservation in 5022/24.

We used to sail in category 5, but once we had our 3rd child and di$covered we needed a category 4 cabin for now on, these secret porthole rooms made a lot of sense. For the 7 day cruise it costs close to $2000 less and provides an extra 80 squre feet.

Only the 3 or 4 day cruises are available for May-December in 2005 and you can book them through a TA (we use Dreams Unlimited). The website doesn't list these dates for some reason, but if you call Disney Cruise Lines directly they can also book you for one of these cruises.

Thanks, DJ - we booked an Easter 2005 cruise, with the directions to change our onboard ressie when the December dates come out. Danielle figured this would give us the most comparable pricing.

Want to get those rooms THE DAY dates are released - but I read somewhere on the board late last night (3:30?) that some TA's have wait lists for their clients -- any thoughts?

I booked our SPH room in December for our April 2, 2005 cruise and got the LAST one. You virtually have to book as soon as the dates become available for the 7 night cruises...

I have also heard that you can 'wait list' with your TA to get a certain room for cruises that have not opened up yet. If you really want one of these rooms and you know which cruise you want, you may want to contact your TA and see if this is an option.

There is some speculation that the reason the rest of the 7 night cruises haven't come out yet is because DCL may be changing itenaries. So keep in mind that what you 'think' may be the ports of call for your planned cruise could change.

Good Luck! The SPRs are nice for the price! Hope you can get one!

Grumpy's mom- I believe that is true (about some TA's or maybe all of them? able to put people on waiting lists for specific cruises/categories/rooms)- atleast allseastravel does it. I know that!

We were able to book not only one, but two of the SPH rooms in Nov. for a May 1st Eastern cruise in 04. We needed connecting rooms and they said that there were two Cat. 10 on deck 5 so we booked them to be closer to the kids clubs. Then found out the were had the SPH rooms after reading about them on castaway.com website. I guess we were just lucky, but it just goes to show you that they are available at other times then the max out.

I just booked SPH rooms 5022/5024 yesterday (3-10-04) for our Jan 05 cruise. The other connecting SPH rooms were already booked. We are a family of 5 and I had initially booked the Deluxe Family Stateroom with Verandah - Deck 8, but we may have an additional person joining us plus thought 2 bathrooms would work out better. I will miss the Verandah - sniff, sniff : ( - but will enjoy spending the price difference on other things!

We have 5522 & 5524 booked for our January 2005 Cruise! I know those travelling in the other 4 secret porthole cabins as well! ;) Our travel agent was able to book before the staterooms were available to the public as they had reserved group space at a FABULOUS rate on this cruise!!! Can't wait!!!
