Secondary school admissions AGGGGHHHHHH Updated 28/3

Thanks again everyone, I saw her Head this morning and got Jess's 11 plus results. There are 3 tests all out of 140, the pass mark was all three at 120 or two at 125 and one 115 well Jess got a 140, 139 and a terrible 103 in maths  But I am so pleased with the 2 top scores and the head feels we should have a case for Grammar, I always said I would not appeal for Grammar as I didn't want her to struggle but with those results we only need help with her maths which is nearly always silly mistakes. So if anyone has advice etc I would love to know, especially as we will have to sit 3 panel hearings as we are appealing for all 3 schools.

Thanks for listening :thumbsup2:

Jess' test results sound excellent. Best of luck with your appeals.

Just realised she took the Kent test! With those results you should definitely appeal. Sophie passed but she took the Medway test which isn't as complicated as yours. However she found the maths incredibly hard and only got 98. Luckily the other scores were ok. I did read somewhere that one question equals roughly 3 points - I don't know if that's right but if it is her maths isn't far out at all. There is a good 11 plus forum with lots of info on it, I can't remember the name but when I type '11 plus medway' in the search box it always comes up first. There's quite alot about the Kent test there and about appeals. Good luck with the appeal - I really hope it works out for you both:grouphug:

It all sounds very stressful for the kids and parents. I am glad we won't go through that up here.

Sending a  to you. She sounds a bright girl.Hope everything sorts itself out soon.

How long will you have to wait to find out?

Not sure if it works the same in England as here in Northern Ireland.
I work in a Local Primary School, and in this years test a young lad was top of the class in all exams taken, yet his 11+ result was a B2.Not good enough as he wanted to go to local Grammar School. But they have appealed to get him into the Grammar, based on his results in class over the last couple of years, and that nerves actually got to him on the days of the test.
Parents have been assured that he will get into the Grammar on his work and results in the class, irrelevant what his result was.

We are right on the Medway border and I know she would have passed if all her scores were added together like they do which is really infuriating! We won't know the results of the first appeal until late April and we have to go before a panel and write letters etc so it's going to be very stressful. I've now got to start thinking how I'm going to word my appeal - ahhhh

Anita well done to your DD Sophie.

I hope everything gets sorted out for your daughter. I was very surprised to read that 11+ exams were still being operated. In my county they have not existed for many years and the typical catchment for a school is just living closest to it, etc. It is a terrible amount of stress to put on the kids at that age, they seem to be having exams all the time these days.

I hope everything works out well. princess: Your Daughter's test scores are very impressive. :)

There would already have been a headteachers appeal before the actual results came out. The books would have been looked at by an independent panel of local heads. It's a strange system. Some places will still be available for the parents appeals I'm sure.

Our Head actually refuses to do any Headteacher appeals which is a bit harsh but has said she will back my appeal :confused3

Your head not appealing is dreadful behaviour. Other heads battle for their kids, and so should yours! I believe that with those scores if your head had appealed your daughter would have secured her place by now. How on earth can that stance be justified? That means that other kids who did less well, but had the support of their head have already been allocated a place on the first appeal that could well have gone to your family. I would be so angry.

Whooo Hooo we had a letter today from our first choice secondary (church school) to offer Jessica a place :yay: We were top of the waiting list! I am so relieved and excited it will be the best place for Jess, it gets really good results and generally the kids are nice. Also we now don't have to go through the appeal process

Just had to let you all know :thumbsup2

What a relief, very pleased for your DD:goodvibes

Great news Jo, I know what a relief it is when they get the school you want :)

Such a relief, I'm really pleased for you and Jess :woohoo:

I'm dreading having to go through all this again in another 3 years:headache:

Thanks everyone do you realise you all know before Jess does whoops :lmao:
