Is it possible to buy a second-hand magic band somewhere? We are most likely staying off-site but would like to have magic bands for our trip. I know we can buy them on site for $25, but it would be nice if we could find some used ones somewhere for cheap!
Thanks!

Technically they aren't transferrable. The cheapest ones are $12.95. They aren't really required for anything, so I wouldn't bother with them.

Once a MB is registered to someone, it cannot be reassigned. That would apply to every MB that someone would get for *free* when they stay onsite.

There are special MBs and customizable versions that can be obtained without linking them to anyone. I have one that was included special package I had purchased last fall. I have never linked it to MDE. A MB like that could be assigned to anyone I choose. However, you're most likely going to pay a significant amount for that kind of MB.

Keep an eye out for clearance MBs on Disneystore .com. They had a few Christmas ones in January that were pretty affordable.

Don't bother getting one just use your ticket instead of the magic band.

I agree with all here-majic band only makes sense when staying AT WDW hotels-for food charges to room etc

I don't see the point of a Magic band if you are not staying on property. And no, you can't use someone elses band. You cannot unlink a band once it has been assigned. Good tip on the discounted seasonal bands.

The only benefit would be not having to get your tickets out of your bag at the park entrances and FP lines.

We liked having them when we stayed at the Dolphin last trip (even though they couldn't be used for room key/charging). Not necessary at all, but just depends on if you think the convenience is worth the extra ~$15 per person. We had bands from previous trips that we used, so it didn't cost us any extra.

A benefit of having a Magic Band when staying off site is when you have Memory Maker. There are a few rides (7DMT & TOT come to mind) that have videos that you can only get if you have a band and the 7DMT photo you can only get with the band because there are no monitors at the exit of the ride where you can tap your ticket. No band = no picture/video. I personally loved our 7DMT videos and they totally made it worth it to get a band.
