Second guessing the DP

I just did a really rough estimate of what our TS meals will cost, for seven TS I figured it will be around 428.00 for two adults and two kids. This total does not include the CS meals each day, or snacks. We will be paying around 713 for the seven days we are there. We don't have any real expensive meals planned: Kona Cafe, Spoodles, Sci Fi-lunch, Whispering Canyon, Yak and Yeti, San Angel Inn, all of these are dinners except for Sci Fi.
I have never really doubted the value of the dining plan, but now I am wondering, if it is worth it? I guess I will probably be breaking even with the additon of our counter service meals each day.
Does anyone else find themselves in this situation. I do love having everything paid for in advance.

Wow, I guess I have nothing else better to do?!!
I don't know what kind of entrees you are calculating your figures from; however, accordingly to my *math, since you will be paying $714 for your whole family for the 7 nights, that leave you about $160 something for CS meals and 28 snack credits to use among the 2 adults and 2 children(that is if you were going to pay OOP for all meals)
I was averaging all the mentioned restaurants' entrees prices and came up with the medium price range.
Most dinners are going to cost your family around $80-$90's. Lunch @ Sci-fi will run around $56 average.:surfweb:

Ever since they started the DP, we have always gotten it. My dad especially likes it b/c he gets to pay for it all BEFORE we even get there, so we get to enjoy eating w/o having to worry about how we spend. For our upcoming trip, I calculated how much the DP was a day, and I found (for the ressies we have) that our TS alone will almost more than pay for each day. In the end, it comes down to what you think is best for your family, but for mine, it is the easiest AND cheapest thing to do. Good luck! :thumbsup2

That's us too, woohoo!
Each day, our TS dinner would cost as much as the one day's DDP(in our case, we have always gotten the Deluxe plan, because we like the signatures experience) We like to get 7 nights' package, but stay an extra night(room only) This way, we will have one more night to finish all of our TS credits without eating too much in any given day.:rolleyes1

thanks, I do love the idea of having paid for the entire weeks meals at the beginning. I think I was too bored today and started playing around too much with the numbers.

On your OOP price did you add in tax and drinks and desserts as well? Those are all included in the DDP price

We found TS dinners always covered our full daily price ($180 in our case, for 6), sometimes it went over. So basically ALL of our CS and Snacks were "free". All depends on what you order of course but I wouldn't say we went super fancy either and did do one 2TS meal at HDDR. Even without using all of our CS we still came out significantly ahead.
