Second-guessing stroller situation?

Going to WDW the beginning of Dec. with my grown DD and my granddaughter. Granddaughter will have just turned 5 in late September.. We were there in Sept. of 2001 (with a double stroller) and it was a lifesaver for both her AND us (was able to suff lots of things in the second seat)..

I've been making plans for this trip and the thought of NOT bringing this stroller never even crossed my mind.. That's a LOT of walking for a little girl and considering we'll be spending all day in the parks it only seemed logical that we should bring it..

Here's the glitch though.. My granddaughter just "graduated" from preschool and suddenly she sees many things as "babyish" or feels she's a "big" girl now and has outgrown many things..

Is she even going to WANT to be in that stroller? And is she going to FIT? I just can't imagine us managing without it.. I'm sure she'll get tired at times - we're going to need some place for our junk - and I'm TERRIFIED of her getting lost during very crowded events such as the parade, etc..

What should we do?? Anyone else been through this?

Thanks!

Why not leave the stroller at home and rent one if necessary? The strollers you can rent are very large and easy for older children to get in and out of. You could even rent a double so you have room for packages etc.

This being said I just purchased a (I've lost count, but probably my 20th and no I am not exaggerating!) stroller for our upcoming trip. It's a Maclaren Volo, it is very light, about 8 lbs. and is an umbrella variety. It cost $99 and comes with a basket. It is very comfortable for my 4yo DD--she is on the small side tho'. I hated to buy yet another stroller but just couldn't think about not bringing one with me!

Hope this helps! Enjoy your trip!

tiggersmom, how big is your 4 year old? I need to get a stroller for my 4 year old dd too and am wondering how comfy the stroller is? Everything we've looked at so far has been too small. My dd doesn't weigh much (36lbs) but is kinda tall. Thanks!

We recently bought the Maclaren Volo for my 2 1/2 year old daughter. She is a big girl - about 37 inches tall and weighs about 34 pounds. We love the Volo and she is very comfortable in it. We are looking forward to bringing to WDW in October!

C.Ann when we went in January 7 you DS said no way he was too old for the double with 5 yo DS. That lasted until noon the first day, lol. We are going again in December and will bring with us for the last time as they will be 6 and 8- he is a peanut though. I figure that planning to do 10 days in the park and paying every day for rental will cost us over a hundred dollars that I am not willing to pay. Just my opinion and as I have said before we all know our own kids and what they need.

Have a great day!

Zachnelli-

My daughter is 4 1/2 (gotta put that 1/2 in there!) and weighs 37 lbs. and is 40 inches tall. She has plenty of room in the Volo.
She is totally spoiled as she is the youngest and even wants me to take the stroller to the mall! My other children were out the the stroller by 3--but the princess gets what the princess wants!

Hope this helps!

We are going end of July with 4 1/2 and 2 3/4. Absolutley bringing stroller. We have a big amusement park by us and we always bring the stroller. Make her feel grownup by not having to strap in. My DD who is 4 1/2 is also 47 inches tall. That's alsmost of the scale and he fits fine in our double. Front or back. There's nothing like your own stroller.

Have fun.

I too have to recommend the volo - we are going in Sept with my dd 4 (who is 42 lbs and 42 in) and my ds 13mos. - and debated what to do about the stroller issue and finally bought (much to my dh dismay) 2 volos and stroller connectors. My dd is as comfortable in it as my ds - they just sit differently. It is well worth the money - I had a bunch of toys r us coupons and used them at babies r us and got both of them for around $80 each.

I'm so glad there are so many responses about how big your kids are in this stroller! I have to order one today (we leave in 2 weeks) and no one around here sells them and we don't have a Babies r us! My dd is 4 1/2 and has a foot injury (we don't know exactly what yet, MRI is Thurs) and there is just no way I see her walking much in 2 weeks (she's not walking much now!). Thanks everyone!

zachnelli-

I ordered mine from Babies R Us (Amazon), I wanted yellow and none of the stores around here carried that color. Anyway, I ordered it on Wednesday and it arrived on Friday with regular shipping! I used it today while shopping at Kohl's--she just loves it!

Enjoy your new stroller and your trip to WDW!!
