Second guessing Poly/BC split - need help deciding!

We are planning 11 nights in July. First night will be late arrival, and DH doesn't want to spend the money on a Deluxe since we won't be there until around 8:00 pm. The rest of the nights are up to me, he won't put in any opinions!

Current Plan:

1 night POFQ or CSR
3 nights Poly (2nd favorite)
7 nights BC (favorite)

Trying to decide whether to keep as is, spend more nights Poly and less BC, or spend the 10 nights at just one with no split (other than first night). If we switched to BC only, with the money we save I could probably talk DH into all 11 nights BC. I doubt we will have a trip this long again for a few years - it will usually be 7 nights.

What would you do?

I would concentrate my MK days on 3 nights at the Poly, then switch to BC and do everything else, including some heavy resort time, those days. BC in July is a good thing.

You picked our two favorite resorts! WE love them both and stayed at both several times. Do you have any kids with you? and If so, what are their ages?

Yes - DD will be celebrating her 7th birthday. We've been to each one once, BC was our first deluxe resort last year :)

That makes it a little tougher. For us, an adult only stay at BC would win out every time. Walking to Epcot is just amazing and the Boardwalk area and we also walked or boated over to the Studios many times. It is so relaxing at the BC. The Poly is our favorite resort I think by just a little bit. Convenient to MK especially with kids. The monorail. You can't go wrong with either resort. That is my opinion. But I would offer to you that we did a split stay and we just did not like it. Picking up and moving was a pain. I would go wherever you could stay put. With a 7 year old, I would go with the Poly if you can stay the whole time. But really you would not be losing out if you went to the BC and stayed the whole time. The pool there is wonderful. I just found sticking with one resort more "homey" and magical. I would not do the split stay if I could stay at one of those places the whole time.

I was in your place. I went back and forth many many times on the split stays and which one to pick. Now just staying put always wins out for us. You can't go wrong with whatever you do.

We did a short split a couple weeks ago, 2 nights Poly and 3 CBR. Definitely had mixed feelings about it. Mostly because I really didn't like CBR and obviously it just stinks going from Deluxe to Mod (something I hope to never do again!). Since it was such a short stay I hated not really feeling unpacked at either resort.

I'm such an indecisive person. I'm worried I will have some regret either way we go! We enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere at BC last summer, and the pool is fantastic. I'm really not crazy about the pool at the Poly so that's one of my hesitations, since we plan to spend a decent amount of time at the resort. I'm leaning a little towards BC the whole time (it's my favorite by just a little), but I did enjoy most of the Poly and we had a great room and patio.

I like your split. I would keep it just like that. As a PP said, I would focus on the MK area while you are at PVR.

If you plan on spending a lot of time at the resort, I would go with the BC the whole time. The atmosphere is just so relaxing and nice. The Poly is too, don't get me wrong. That was our first and favorite resort. I was so indecisive all the time as well and we took a chance and tried the BC and love it just as much. We have stayed at all the deluxes and those two are our favorite. I think you will really enjoy just staying at one and relaxing for your whole time. You will save a little money as well. We also went for my DD's birthday when she was about your DD's age. I did the in room birthday boxes. It was the most amazing experience ever. The look on her face was priceless and she still has all the contents of the boxes and the boxes themselves. With the money you are saving, you may want to check that out. It was worth absolutely every penny just to do that once.

Again, I would pick a resort and stay the whole time. Good luck in your decision! I know what you are going through. I went back and forth for months every trip! I never regretted a long stay at one resort.

What are the birthday boxes??

WE still pull out the Happy Birthday Banner every birthday and hang it. That was 7 years ago! Everything in the box is high quality.

"Enjoy a wonderful Disney birthday In-Room Celebration in your Walt Disney World® Resort room! Your loved one will feel just as if Mickey Mouse has invited them to an exclusive birthday celebration once they see a Mickey Mouse themed door banner holding their invitation. Imagine their excitement when they discover what’s inside the room - a surprise party prepared by Mickey and Minnie Mouse!

A singing “Happy Birthday!” balloon and Mickey chalkboard decorate your loved one’s party, while bins from Mickey and Minnie overflow with goodies. They’ll find delectable treats to share, including a fresh cake and serving utensils from Minnie. And, when they’re ready to go on adventures, Mickey left a birthday hat and cinch bag featuring a sound-activated light-up Mickey icon to bring the party wherever they go! It’ll be a birthday memory that they’ll cherish for a lifetime.

Enhance their birthday celebration with personalization to create treasured keepsakes."

Even though you get in late on the first night, do you really want to be changing resorts on your first full day on vacation? I think it would be nice to get settled in a hotel that you were planning on staying at for awhile and get up and enjoy the parks or whatever activity you had planned. The price difference may more than outweigh the hassle but just a thought.

That's really cute! We may splurge on that. We celebrated her bday last year also, and we went to party city and target and got little favors and blind bags that we left out for surprises when we returned. She totally believed that Mickey and Minnie went out during the day to get her surprises (we had brought her dolls from home). One day during our stay we returned to balloons and a card from the gang.

I'd spend my first night at Pop to save some $ then do a 5/5 split. Both resorts are great, but there's something special about staying at Poly, being able to see MK & the castle and sitting on the beach to watch the electric water parade & Wishes.

I don't want to change after the first night at all, but DH thinks it's a waste. We've done it the last two trips (at a hotel outside the World), and just get up super early the next day to check in to our resort and make it to the park by RD. We would save $150 by switching to BC the whole time, so we could put that towards what we were going to pay for the first night and just add on the BC the first night. Well, hopefully he would go for that!

It's really adorable. We splurged too. Glad we did it. I think we did the one that was the bigger one than the one I posted. There are all different packages to customize what you want your price point. She was so excited when we got back to the room and it's all there. It was worth every cent.

FWIW we flown in late a few times to WDW on our vacation. We actually like getting settled in that evening and just chilling at the hotel. We get a bite to eat at the food court, get our refillable mugs, and just walk around and soak in the ambiance. It helps settle us into the vacation spirit. Then we can get up and enjoy a nice breakfast (did I mention that we love Disney hotel food courts!) then go on with our day. My vote would be to stay night 1 at the hotel that you plan on being at for a few days (or the whole trip).

We've never done a split stay. I would be very tempted to try it on a trip as lengthy as yours - close to 50/50 if the budget allowed. I think I would do Poly last since I think it might be hard to leave the convenience of the monorail line to go stay at another resort - even one as cool at BC. I would love to hear if you end up doing the split stay and your thoughts on how it worked out.

Thanks for everyone's comments. I've decided it would be best to stay in one place. Just got confirmation from my TA - 11 nights at the Beach Club woohoo!
