I need your opinions. We are getting in at 9:45 PM. I am hearing that our luggage will not arrive at our room if we use ME until the middle of the night. That to me is a little freaky. I also want to have some groceries on hand.

So in order to get back to the room as quick as possible what is the best choice:

Rent a car, pick up our own bags and go to the grocery store or
Take DME and pick up bags and deal with a grocery service.

or any of your options???

Thanks
ALI

Some times you can get a really good one day car rental rate from Alamo or National. You could pick up the car at MCO and then drop off the next day at the car care center of at the Swan.

That is what I am doing. MCO to the Dolphin. Full Size for $38

I love the convenience of having a car. Not sure I could do without it. Usually you can find great deals at MCO for rentals, so that makes it even better :)

Pick up just one bag, the one that you have your necessities in. (Most necessities will be in your carry-on bags....but water or juice boxes or whatever, the stuff that you MUST put in a checked bag...). Tag your other bags for Magical Express since you don't care if they don't arrive until 1am.

Go to baggage claim, pick up your "one important bag" yourself, and bring it onto the ME bus with you and then to your room.

Rent the F/S from National EA and drop it off the next morning. Much faster (in my experiences) and just much less hassel then having to deal with ME at 10pm....Not to mention at that time of night, there shouldn't be too many at National

IMO, I would rent the car for 1 day. It seems it may save $$$ in the long run with the grocery shopping and such. Plus then you have all your necessities with you at the hotel and don't have to worry about being woken up when your luggage arrives.

HTH! :)

Good advice - you could also plan for any tough to reach places on the day you have the car, or keep it two days (rentals at MCO are really cheap, almost the cheapest in North America). For instance, if you are planning an early ADR somewhere, do it the day you have the car. Or do the same for a later meal, or to visit another resort, or FW, or to go somewhere you haven't been before because it's too inconvenient to reach by bus/boat/monorail.

I think that I am going to see if they will hold my bags at OKW bellservices so I can take ME. I can rent a car the next day at the Dolphin if I want to go shopping. I think I will call OKW directly to make sure I can do that there without a big hassle. I posted the question on the DVC boards. Maybe they know.
