Just booked our second cruise...5 day Baja out of San Diego on May 7th. Has anyone ever done this cruise? We stop in Ensenada and Cabo...if you've been on this cruise do you have any recommendations on shore excursions? My son will be 5 when we go.

Also we're sailing on the Dream this August to the Bahamas for 4 days and I know the dream is a rather large ship...I've read the Wonder is smaller. Has anyone had any issues with motion/sea sickness since its a smaller boat? What was your experience on the Wonder?

Thanks for any advice! This is obviously not a cheap cruise and I just want to make sure it will be worth it!!:)

We did the 5 night Baja cruise last October. We prefer the smaller Magic class ships to the larger Dream class ships. Truthfully, I didn't really notice that much difference in the "feel" or movement of the Wonder over the Dream.

In Ensenada, we stayed onboard, since it was our 4th call there on a cruise. In Cabo, we went onshore and booked a private glass bottom boat tour. But in the past we've taken a couple of DCL tours there.

@PrincessShmoo thats great to hear you didn't notice much difference between the dream and the wonder...glass bottom boat tour sounds awesome!! I may look into that...also thinking of maybe swimming with the Dolphins. My son would love that I think. Just don't know what to do in Ensenada...have you done anything fun there in the past that you'd recommend?

Well, no. The first time we stopped there, we stayed onboard. The next couple of times we just got off and walked around a bit. And this last time we just got off and checked out the new port gift shops.

Sorry, but Ensenada just doesn't interest us much.

We have done exactly what Princess Shmoo did (and basically that is what I've done every time I've been in either port). Maybe it's because I live in San Diego, so close to the border, but Ensenada doesn't excite me as a cruise port. I'd rather just stay on the ship and enjoy things being a bit less crowded! Cabo is fun, though, and you have lots of options without booking through Disney. Hire a glass-bottom water taxi for a private tour, get a water taxi over to one of the resort/beach areas, and you may even be able to pop into the dolphin place that's right there, provided you get there early. No guarantees they won't be booked up already, though.

I don't think the size of the ship matters, but the water in the Pacific tends to be choppier. I was very surprised and caught off guard to feel sea sick my night on board out of San Diego, since I had never had any sea sickness before. I just take Bonine when I board now, so that doesn't happen again. Enjoy your cruises.

Just booked this cruise yesterday! This will be our 3rd cruise and we are so excited because our little one will be joining us! he will be 2.

Honestly we've been on all four ships and other then the difference in length to walk from one end to the other (ugh), we didn't notice any difference in movement between the smaller or larger ships. Disney has great stabilizers ;)

It could be that I'm getting older, but I've only experienced seasickness on the fantasy and the dream, never on the magic or wonder. Who knows the cause. I'm not taking any chances on the wonder this summer, I'll start the Dramamine day 1. That feeling is hard to shake once it starts.

I've done the Bahamian sailing on both the Wonder and the Magic and I never had any motion sickness issues on either ship- even though I did get very seasick the one time I ever sailed with a cruise line other than Disney (never again!) So I think you will be ok. I was with a large party of 22 and no one had any seasickness issues the whole time. My grandmother said the only time she felt the boat move really was right when we were leaving ports (which is usually around dinner so you're distracted anyway) Have fun!
