Second Chance offers on eBay

I had an auction end tonight that sold for a good price. I have another of the same item that I was going to list tonight. Can I just do a second chance offer to the next highest bidder? I would be happy with that amount. I just wasn't sure if that was legal with ebay?? How does it work? Would I pay final value fees?

I had someone set up a private auction for me before. I was bidding on 2 princess sweatshirts and lost one of them. She emailed me to see if I was still interested in the one I lost because she had another. Hope this helps.

Yes it is perfectly legal and you will pay final value fees.

I am new to ebay but I believe it is legal. I got a duplicate second chance offered to me last week in that type of scenario.

I actually turned it down though because there were only 2 of us bidding on the first item so I figured I would get the duplicate item without a bidding war and that is exactly what happened. To be honest I had already bid on the duplicate item once I saw I was outbid and before I got the offer. If I thought it would be to my advantage to take the offer I certaintly would have.

There were over 30 bids on my item, so I think the 2nd highest bidder might like the offer.

The item sold for a comparable amount to other completed auctions, so I don't think they will get it for much less if they bid on another.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I am going to send the offer.
