SeaWorld Passes & Christmas Crowds

Hi - I'm reposting...I think I posted under the wrong board initially. Sorry!

My son swims for UCSD and I'm going down this weekend for his last meet before break and then we are traveling back together for Christmas.

We are going to stay in San Diego Monday - Wednesday and thought it would be fun to go to SeaWorld on Tuesday.

My first question is about crowds and what we should expect.

The other question is about the passes. I thought I'd buy him a 2 year pass so he can use it to go back while he is there. The Platinum pass includes reserved spots for the shows. How big of a perk is that? Will it make much of a difference for the shows - particularly at Christmas?

We have Platinum passes and for us, it makes a big difference. It is really nice to be able to walk in about 10 minutes before a show starts and easily be able to get a seat, even on the most crowded days.

In addition, you get preferred parking (which is really close, if you get there early enough, it can be within about 100 feet of the entrance gates).

In your case, it may even work out better, as you also get one free admission ticket and guest pass for the platinum seating per year.

Another great benefit is that you get free admission and regular parking to most of the other attractions.

Also, they offer EzPay (monthly payments) on this level of pass. And the discounts add up fast.

As for crowds, look at the hours, the longer the hours, the more crowded it will be. And be advised that Sea World closes in the rain. If you find that happening to you, go to the Zoo, they are open no matter what and you can usually find a good deal for there as well.

Thanks! We decided to head up to Disneyland for a quick day trip. So, will hold off on buying the SeaWorld passes until next trip.
