Planning on flying into MCO from EWR on 7/1/2015, we are a party of 6. We like flying JB and have always gotten the EMS seats. I'm now wondering if we should take the regular seats and save the $45 charge on each seat, pp which adds up to a hefty $540. I like the EMS because I have bad knees and recently had knee replacement surgery, I'm only 5'2". Will it be that more uncomfortable in the regular seats? I recently read that they are adding more seats so the space will be tighter. We flew on Spirit to Las Vegas last summer and that was a NIGHTMARE. It felt like I was "kissing my knees" the whole way in. Never again. I could barely get off the plane my knees were numb! Just wanted to hear any experience on the "regular" seats on JB. Any advice would be appreciated. :thumbsup2

1) JedtBlue's Airbus 320's have about 33"-34" of pitch.
. . . seats are good
. . . however, center seats have little footy-room due to under-seat electronics in front to you
. . . also, the new seats are pretty thick, so pitch is more like 31'-32"
2) Which is far better than Spirit's 28".
. . . 28" is pretty small
. . . I know of few people who are comfortable with these
3) Check the seat layouts at Seat Guru

NOTE: Seat pitch refers to the space between a point on one seat and the same point on the seat in front of it. For many carriers, the pitch in Economy class is 30 to 32 inches (76 to 81 cm). More seat pitch can mean more legroom, but it is also affected by the thickness of the seat back. Airlines have claimed that a reduction of seat pitch can be compensated for by a thinner seat-back design.

I've always been fine in the regular seats I'm 5'4. Could you do half extra space and half not and maybe change half way through? Or get he regular seats on the way down and if it's horrible upgrade for the way home.

EWR-MCO is a pretty short flight. I'd just go with regular seating.

I've flown JetBlue 6 times in the last year. I don't know which size plane by number but 4 of the trips were 4 seats to a row with the isle down the center with two each side. And then the last flights were 6 to a row with row down center of 3 each side.

First suggestion, isle seat. When the flight crew are not going up and down with snacks you get a little extra off to your side. I am 5' 4 1/2" and often have problems with my legs swelling when flying. (water retention) I was comfortable in the regular seats.

the other thought I had was what someone else suggested. Maybe you can get your extra room seat and have the rest of the group sitting in the regular seats in front or back of your row. And you could try the regular seat and if it didn't work well you could switch back. Just a thought.

The worse flight I had on Jetblue was when the guy in front of me decided to recline all the way back on the whole flight. It wasn't as much of a leg problem as it was an in my face issue.

Oh and I flew out of OHR and PVD so my flights were 2-3 hours. I could survive the sitting and saving the $$ for that short of time. And the movie in front of me definitely helped distract me.

Good luck deciding. We love JetBlue.

I'm 5'2" also and notice the difference between the extra leg room and regular seats when flying from NYC to FL. It's not really uncomfortable but it is noticeably more cramped. I only sit there when I fly alone. Dh is really tall so we sit up front when we fly together.

I would for your return not because of leg room but because MCO can be pretty bus in the security line and you can go to the shorter first class line.

I am 5'7" and flew in a regular seat on Jet Blue from Washington DC to Orlando in Feb just 9 weeks after knee replacement surgery. I have to admit my ROM at the time was only 84 degrees, but I was comfortable in an aisle seat on the side of the plane where my bad leg was next to the aisle (right side of plane since it is my left leg). I think you should be fine.

You can buy Even More Speed for $10 for the quicker boarding and priority TSA line.

You can buy Even More Space which includes Even More Speed for $35 or $45 depending on flight distance.

I'm 6'5" so I have to have the Even More Space, at least on the Airbus A320 planes (the ones with six seats in a row in the 3/3 split).

The Embraier 190 planes have four seats in a row in a 2/2 split and have enough space in regular seats for MCO to the Northeast flight lengths. I understand that JetBlue will not be adding seats to this model as by keeping them to 99 seats they are exempt from many disability access requirements.

Well, I'm 5'8" and dh is 6'4". We just flew from Boston to San Diego on JB. I refused to pay an addtl $80+ for EMS seats, so we were in regular seats. No issues for either of us.
