Has this ever happened to you? I stood in line today for the Tarzan show. Got there at 11:40 AM for the 12:45 show. There was already a line but I was not to far back. The kids and DH were widing the Primevil Whirl and planned to meet me in the theater. They let us in at 12:15 PM to find seats. I saved my seat plus three others for my family. They finally arrived - with only 5 minutes to spare. People were still trying to find seats and walking all around the place. Several announcements of please move to the center of the theater to free up space for others etc and I thought we were done with moving. I kept my kids on the end of the row so they could see the show. Well about ne minute before the show started there were two ladies who were still looking for seats. The guide wanted to make the kids move over (they were in the row in front of us) and I said no way they were staying on the end and there was no room anyway. Well he 'made' one of the ladies sit next to them - the kids were still on the end BUT my poor daughters butt was half way off the bench as there was no room. I started to complain to the man and he basicially said tough luck! I am so upset they would do this for several reasons. First I waited in line outside and then inside for these seats and why sould people who come at the last minute get better seats and bump others who have been there for a long time. Second it was not really safe for my DH to be half way off the bench seating. I was so upset I didn't even enjoy the show. I want to complain but don't know if a complaint is valid. I think they need to seat late commers in the back and not force those of us waiting for a long time to squeeze in like sardines.

Perhaps next time you could come late and get the great seats! :goodvibes I always expect the squish towards the middle thing and try to choose a row that looks more full so I end up closer to the end of the row...let's face it, everyone would love to choose their own seating, but that just wouldn't be very efficient, now would it?

If you're early in the line, you have to expect that you're not going to be able to sit at the end of a row. Its standard practice, almost common knowledge, that at these shows they always say "Move to the center of the theater". Its just what should be done.

If you want to ensure a seat at the end of the row, then you should wait to the side until the row is almost filled and then save your seats.

As for someone sitting with half their behind hanging off, yes that's a problem but I'm guessing that's because someone else further in the row didn't follow directions and move all the way to the center.

Its not hard to do.

Honestly, I have more a problem with this. Your family who came in late didn't do anything much different than those you are complaining about. If my kid wants to see a show, she can stand in line and wait like everyone else.

1) I see NOTHING wrong with the CM or other people.
2) I thing YOU were in the wrong.
3) If your kids want seats, they should stand in line like everyone else.
4) They should not be off riding rides.
5) I don't believe seats should be "saved".
6) Also, you should have moved to the center, as instructed.
7) You were totally inconsiderate of others.
8) Get over it!

I agree with theRustyScupper, your kids should have been in line with you and you should have waited until the row was almost filled if you wanted an end seat. I HATE people who save seats.

Everyone saves seats---Ive read about it time and time again on here. Heck if you cant save seats--then everyone better start walking up to the fast pass machine instead of sending one person to do it. And how about standing in line for 55 min and your 6 yr old REALLY has to use the bathroom.......does the entire family get out of line or does just one parent take them and join them back up in line????

Was she in the wrong? No---she was doing what every other person has done at some point or another. Should she complain? No, just let it go--its a past event and complaining isnt worth it--use it as a lesson to use later in life.

there is a difference from going potty than riding rides, i have to agree with rusty up there. we've waited a looong time in lines for seats and we've also just gotten places at the last minute and been grateful for seats....i have also saved a seat for my husband while he ran out to get me a drink or something like that, but i always squish to the center, even the time i had a giant leg brace on and it could not be bent. Well to each his own!

****please let me clarify that my husband has waited in line with me and
only left to get drinks after we found seats and were seated. :mickeybar It was at
fantasmic, where the concessions are at the back and we wanted seats first and figured i could save his seat while he got back up****

I've had the reverse happen to me at Playhouse Disney a million times. I get in what appears to be a reasonable line only to find out that for every person in front of me their may be as many as 5 or 6 other people joining the line at the last second. 4 times in one trip this caused us to move from the line, to the standby line, to not seeing the show. Some waits were in excess of 50 mins. If my DS should have to wait in line why shouldn't others? :confused3 I personally think saving space in line while others ride the surrounding rides(not talking about potty breaks here)shouldn't be done.

I guess I am in the minority here. I agree with the OP. I think if she waited in the line to get the good seats (I don't see why there is a issue that she saved seats) then she should have the good seat. I too hate when they announce to move to the middle. I think the late comers should move to the middle. I don't have a problem standing up in the row to let someone else enter the row. It's like when I go to the movies. If I get there early enough to grab an end seat, I'm not moving over to let late comers have my seat, but I will stand up to give them enough room to get to the middle seats. Just my opinion.

She said she waited till she thought they were done moving people--So thats not to say that she didnt let peopel through--they may have possibly mvoed and let others through and when that area was full--then grabbed the end seats. Nothing is wrong w/ that.

And saving seats is saving seats--no matter if they are riding a ride or going to get a drink.

Like I stated--take it as a learning experience---nothing really worth complaining over and the only loss here is the enjoyment of the show. Noone elses actions are worth having a min. worth of bad time at Disney. (or anywhere else for that matter) The only true person to be upset is the little girl who couldnt sit in her seat all the way.

Maybe all the latecomers had people in there saving them seats.
Going to the bathroom is totally different than not being there because your kid would rather ride a ride than wait.
EVERYone wants the best seat possible. You just have to go with the flow and deal with crowds if you're at Disney.

This problem could be solved with one side of the seats entering... (such as phillarmagic) I have not seen Tarzan so I don't know the setup of the theater but I have seen Beauty and the Beast. If the left side of each bench was for "loading" then everyone having to push down it would make it alot easier.

Sorry, but in a place like Disney the idea of "I got here first, so I should have my choice of seats" is ludicrous.

Disney is trying to move folks through attractions efficiently, thus the "Please move all the way to the center" admonishment. They are absolutely no different than any other theme park in this respect. Even if you don't mind getting up to let others pass, its a pain in the neck to ask a whole row to stand, then try and inch your way through an aisle and not step on toes/bags/hats/anything else placed on the ground where space is tight.

I agree with the fact that I think it is rude for people to come into the theater as the show is starting and find seats. I think that by this point it should be roped off and you need to wait for the next show, it has happened numerous times to my family. We were at Beauty and the Beast and even after the show started they were letting people come in (it is very distracting from the show). We always wait in line earlier to try to get a good seat. Our family waits in line together (with the exception of potty breaks), we always try to get the "little row" on the sides so that we don't have the situation of moving to the center when people decide to show up last minute. I can see the OP's frustration.

OP, I hear and feel your frustration. Each of us needs to vent at one time or another. I'd like to think that the Dis is a place where one could vent and not be critized. It's hard for us sitting at our computer to realize what it's like in any particular situation. It's usually a lot worse than what one can put into writing. I wish people who respond to threads they don't agree with could be a little nicer. :hyper2:

Who do these kids think they are? Riding rides at Disney World? Well, I never.

Midge, I completely agree with you. The tone here is aggressive. But then again, many people spend their lives being angry for one reason or another.

May we all be unaffected by the negativity spreaders, in life and on the DIS! :sunny:

Riding the rides is fine. I don't think anyone is against kids riding rides. But if the consequence of that is you, or part of your party in this case show up barely before show time and you have to move in, well then you have to move in. If it's within 5 minutes before show time, they've got to fill the seats efficiently. That means moving people in. What they wanted was to eat their cake and still have it standing there after they were finished.

I think it depends on the type of show. If you're at fantasmic and it's 40 minutes before the show, then yeah... It's quite ok to save em. If you're 5 minutes before the show it's time to fish or cut bait. If it's a continuously loading show, it's time to fish or cut bait right when you walk in.
