Seating for Christmas ...Candlelight Proc.

Are there assigned seats for the Candelight Proc. after dinner? I've heard that the huge majority of the good seats are roped off and saved for American Express gold members but I'm not sure if this is an urban myth (or Disney myth?)

How exactly does this Candelight Proc. work...you eat dinner and then get to the show at what time? Is it first come, first seated?

If anyone who went last year could fill me in, I'd be eternally grateful!

The seating for CP is divided into sections. The very front section is reserved for VIP seating. I'm not sure who is seated there, but I know it wasn't us. The rest of the seating is divided between those with the CP package and those who wait in the standby line. The CP package section is on the left, and you still have to wait in line, but not as long as the standby line. Plus, if you have the package you will get seated as long as you arrive within the time they specify. I can't remember how close to show time you have to get there, but we usually get there about 45 minutes to an hour before the show and always get good seats. Seating in the standby section usually fills up before everyone in line gets seated.

Within the package seating area, there isn't assigned seating. It's first come, first seated.

There are 3 shows most evenings (I think there may be 2 shows for a few dates) and whether you dine before or after the show depends on which show you attend. We always go to the first show because I prefer to eat after the show. I think most people who attend the other two shows dine before the show.
