We have a party of 8. We have reservations for lunch on our HS day. Will there be a problem seating us at one of the cars? I don't want to sit at a regular table. :/

They have cars with long tables that I think seat 8....we sat on one once. I think that was it.
You can see some over the the left

You could always try to make two separate reservations for around the same time. Or just tell them when you arrive that you prefer to sit in cars and will wait for one if need be. No guarantees they will accommodate, but I'd guess this happens frequently.

We had a party of 11 and they sat us in two cars side by side. We just told them we wanted in cars side by side :).

They have tables for 8, but you don't sit towards the screen. You can see those tables at the lower left of the picture above. They could also put you all in two cars next to each other, then you could face the screen.

I've made our reservation already. I will cross my fingers and say some prayers for two tables side by side. My girls are excited to sit in them so hopefully they will accommodate ! Thanks y'all!

Make your reservation for a little earlier or later than the standard meal time and they'll almost certainly accommodate you in two cars side by side. We've done this and it hasn't been a problem. But even if you're in the middle of the busy meal period, just ask for two cars and they'll probably give them to you.

It doesn't hurt to ask as well. They might be able to accommodate your request as long as they are not busy, which is rare.

The one and only time we ate there, we were a party of 6 and sat in the tables that were turned to the side. It was still a fun dining experience!

As PP mentioned, just ask when you check in for how you'd like to sit. You may have to wait longer, but usually they will try to accommodate you if you are willing to wait. Just DD and I went in Dec. (usually we are a party of 4) and so I asked to sit on the front seat of the car, instead of possibly being in the back seat behind a family of 4, and they accomodated us. It's a fun atmosphere no matter where you sit. Be sure to try a milkshake!

We were a party of 8, they sat 6 in one car and 2 at the car across the aisle. I was really glad we got cars (I had been nervous that we might get a table) but I was a little bummed about how it worked out just because of the dynamic of our group. I was one of the two people who sat across in the other car, on the inside of the bench so farthest away from the six in the other car, while my children were two of the 6. I ended up sitting with the daughter of my friend because she didn't want to sit with her step dad and my friend sat with her husband. Looking back it might have been better to have two rows in each car instead of one full car then one additional row because then we could have talked with the people in the row in front or behind us instead of trying to scream across the aisle. I felt pretty excluded and unfortunately that ended up being the only time we saw our friends that entire day. Anyway, like I said it was primarily because of the dynamic of our particular group but maybe something for you to think of if they put you in two cars across the aisle from each other maybe you could ask if it is possible to do 4 and 4 instead of 6 and 2?

I am so glad I've read this thread, booked an ADR for Sci-Fi lunch because it looks so cool, never been to Disney World before, just assumed that all the seating are cars, didn't realised there were tables, I'll probably be disappointed if we've got a table instead of a car. Now I know to ask for cars.

That's kindyll for bringing up this thread, wouldn't have even occurred to me to ask this question.

On a whim we did a walk up for lunch and were at the tables that look like cars on the left. They told us those and the little round tables in the back were normally left for walkups. We didn't mind and since there were three of us, we actually preferred it since two could sit on one side of the table and one on the other and we could talk. Seeing the screen was no problem. I wouldn't have even minded sitting at the round tables in the back but I think those are only for 2 people.

We haven't eaten here before and I'm a planner. I gotta know the details so we can have the best time! I wouldn't have thought about the tables unless I had seen a picture of them. I wondered about our party size being all together.

It will be ok for us to be side by side. It my family of 5 (Hubs and three kids, My parents and my sis) I think we can split DH and I with the two oldest kids and then another table with my sister and our youngest with my parents. It will be fun! I'm looking forward to something different.

On our 1st trip, we hadn't booked a meal there since we were staying at a timeshare w/in-laws, and only picked a few special meals. I knew about Sci-Fi from my research, and the day we were in HS, in-laws suddenly wanted to know where were eating, so I went over to ask about walk-ups. We were a party of 6, and they did accomodate us with a wait, and we sat at one of the long tables. I figured it was because of the party size, but maybe it was for walk-ups. It was fine, but when we went back as a group of 4, we did make sure to ask for a car.

Could you possibly sit 3 across with a child? We did this with DH, myself and my 10 year old. It worked well. Otherwise, we were a party of 11. I didn't request side by side tables, but that is how they sat us.

That might be possible for our kids to sit together. 3 girls. But the rest of the party is grownups. 5 adults. Unless they have a car that has 4rows instead of three. I'm not worried now that I knowI can ask for two side by side
