We are a party of seven (including two young children) who would like to go to Hoop De Doo on my birthday in November.
Ideally I’d like cat 1 if we could get it as the youngest is only three so needs to see otherwise he will get bored.
Are there any tables for that number in the center somewhere or should I get a three and a four and hope that they are together?
That’s assuming that I can get them at all of course! I guess that a computer allocates them. I really don’t want two split tables all over the place.

There are definitely tables that can seat seven in the main center area - should be no need to split up!

Way back in 2014 we had a table of 12, all together, in Cat. 1. So no problem - assuming the seating is more or less the same when it reopens, of course.

Just so you know there are Cat 1 tables at the back of the room, having that does not guarantee you would be close to the stage.

Oh that’s interesting. I didn’t know that. If we are at the side right at the back that would be tricky. I should imagine he would see very little from there I guess. I haven’t seen the show for about 8-10 years so although I can remember the show I remember nothing about the seating.

if I remember correctly Cat 1 doesnt go all the way to back of room but not all is close to stage. plus at the stage you somewhat have to look up as you are lower than stage and the actors get quite close to edge of stage. and the tables seemed very close together at the stage. have been with kids from 4 months to 13 years and that one trip. we liked second row from stage on left side as you look at stage. close enough to see good but far enough to be able for the kids to move a little bit. plus seating is assigned you do not get to pick

There are some maps that vary somewhat with the Cat 2 tables also being on the side. Of course we don't know for sure how it will be when it opens since I don't think they've posted current maps. This is a quote from a poster who I believe used to work there. It might help understand the process and he mentions how tables are arranged before seating is assigned.

HOOP-DEE-DO-REVIEW TICKET AND SEATING "411":
1) HDDR tables are prioritized and assigned in each category by WHEN the ressie was made
. . . whether via phone or on-line or in-person at WDW.
. . . example: a Cat-1 ressie made in January gets a better table than ressie made in February
. . . example: a Cat-1 ressie made within 7-days of the show gets Cat-1 leftovers
2) Tables are manually assigned on 8th day before the show date (we sit in the ticket booth in the afternoon and manually prepare the seating chart).
3) Last minute ressies are assigned to the next open table in order.
4) There are no requests allowed for specific tables.
5) The earlier ressies are made, the better table location.
6) Exception: tables #044 & #045, are kept for last minute handicapped guests.
7) Table numbers do have meaning,
. . . EXAMPLE: table #052
. . . 0 = floor-level
. . . 5 = fifth-row-from-front
. . . 2 = second-table-from-left (when facing the stage)
8) Tables may be moved around to accommodate number of guests.
9) Only one family/group is usually seated per table. *
10) Distribution of tables and categories, prior to any combining of tables.
. . . Cat-1 tables are main floor back to row8, they are the best seats
. . . Cat-2 tables are the seven tables in row9 on main floor
. . . Cat-2 tables are the last four on left/right wings
. . . Cat-2 tables are the eight rear balcony tables facing stage
. . . Cat-3 tables are the eight tables on both balcony sides
. . . Cat-2 and Cat-3 tables may have posts in the viewing way **
. . . Cat-3 tables frequently require one-half of the table to turn around to see
11) DDP Credit Use
. . . 4:00pm show = 2TS for Cat-2 and/or Cat-3, no Cat-1 using DDP credits
. . . 6:15pm show = 2TS for Cat-2 and/or Cat-3, no Cat-1 using DDP credits
. . . 8:30pm show = 2TS for Cat-1, Cat-2 and/or Cat-3
12) Ticket Pick-Up:
. . . up to 7-days prior to show date at any Resort Concierge Desk or any Park Guest Services
. . . within 2-hrs prior to show-time only at HDDR Box Office at Fort Wilderness
. . . box office windows are to the left of Pioneer Hall at FW
.
* There are four large tables for big families. If there are no big families (which seldom happens), they will mix small families of 2-4 to fill the tables. This allows HDDR to maximize the seating, and revenue. If there are more than one group at the table, each group has its own "family style" menu items.
.
** I have assigned seats for HDDR, and wince when I had to put folks behind pillars or have the pillars in their line-of-sight.

I have booked this show right when availability opened many times and have always gotten a seat right at the front of the stage or a row back.

To tag onto this, however, if you make your reservation at the moment you become eligible to do so, tables are assigned based upon the reservation date/time--the early bird truly gets the worm at this dinner show. Also, tables are reconfigured as needed, e.g., a front row table may be a table for 4 but becomes a table for 2 depending upon the reservations.

Just be sure to book on day 1 you are eligible and you will have desirable seating in Cat 1.

I know I am looking forward to its return!

And the description of the process and seating numbers is spot on--or was in the pre-Covid days. I didn't scroll far enough to see it when I replied.

Thank you all so much for your info.
I will book the second that the reservation date opens.
As I’m offsite rather than on that is of course far later than those in Disney hotels as they can make 10 days in advance in one go whereas I can only book on my 60 day time.
So I think on balance I’ll stick to booking for the seven of us rather than two smaller tables which could be spread all over everywhere.
I must admit to be paying roughly $600-$700 for us to watch this show I would be very unhappy to be stuck behind a pillar.

unless this has changed with little ones the bathroom is outside of dining room. you have to go outside to get to it. also unless in back of room very few pillars. unless they have change show actors used to come in the room during show and where some are can be hard to see

It was another member on here that mentioned the pillars so I’ll keep an eye on any news when the show opens in June?? and see if there is a rough seating plan or perhaps people that go might post some photos on social media and I’ll be able to tell more from them.

I remember the pillars were on either end of table we had for our large group with all the kids

This was the view from my seat in February 2019. Category 2, party of 2. Table was basically placed with one side against the post with DH and I seated across from each other.

Did they obstruct your view in any way? As long as the kiddies have a good view the rest of us can make do.
no they were at ends of table. we were on opposite of room from the picture another poster posted. that picture gives you a good idea how room looked before covid. one thing you might not thought about but front row of balcony gives kids a great view above heads on main floor
