Seat selections -- was I in the wrong?

In May we booked a flight with Air Berlin From Duesseldorf to Miami.
After my chemo I ended up with painful and "funny" legs so I booked the XL seats. They were 50 Euro per chair,one way.
The seats are directly at the toilets so there not ideal but I could stretch my legs.

When we were seated a father came up to me and demanded we should change sates so his children could play on the floor.
We told him no sorry ant he went on his merry way to harras the FA about this terrible mistake. Obviously he got a no for an answer and as he passed us on his way back to his special snowflakes he yelled at us that "old" people should stay at home.

That father was a TOTAL idiot. When my dad went through chemo, he lost all feeling in his feet. The ability to stretch out helped him survive a flight. His feet were so bad that he would lose his balance unexpectedly and stumble.......

Some people need to put life in perspective. Obviously that father didn't know of your condition, but it shouldn't have mattered..... just like a man telling Bavaria to MOVE! People need to deal with what they get and make the best of it....... everyone is trying to get to the destination and the entitlement I read of upsets me.

some parents are all about what is best for their child with no consideration of the whole group.....

There are folks (I dare say who are most likely to be of the same age and gender and agility as the one random passenger on the plane who was said to have uttered the above) who would yell, "children should stay at home". (edits made later.)

Since the above post is NOT clear, I feel the need to point out that nobody on this thread ever said "old people should stay at home". The PP took a tiny fragment of a previous post. In the previous post, the poster was quoting something said the them by a rude fellow passenger.

Just to be clear. Since, there are likely people (e.g. me) who thought that they might have missed something a DISer said and were shocked that a DISer would be so rude.

Rest assured - no DISer was that rude.

Well let me assure you I'm not old and still am a good taxpayer in my country.
In my humble opinion people that are rude are mostly driven by the GreenMonster called jealousy.
