I'm not sure how to calculate the savings when purchasing park to park tickets through outlets like Undercover Tourist and such, then converting them to 2 park Seasonal Passes (non Florida resident). Looking for help in finding the current best deal and what the savings would be. :teacher:

2 Park Seasonal Pass is $330.15 including tax - for non-Florida resident

just add the tickets to your cart on UT. The total cost includes taxes. so a 2 day park to park, with one day free (which universal will read as a 2 day ticket) is $291.27 (per person) but it's value to Universal would be gate price of a 2 day ticket. So you'd have to go to universal, add tickets to your cart and go all the way to the end to get them to add tax. That's the number you'd then compare with the $291.27, to get your cost difference.

Undercover Tourist price: $291.27
Uiversal Gate price: XXX
Seasonal pass price 330.15

so lets say the gate price is 330.00, Universal considers that a wash and will convert you to season passes at no charge. Your difference would then be the $291.27 minus the 330.15 for a savings of 38.88 per ticket.

Does this make sense?

Yes! Thank you!

Out of curiosity, does anyone have experience with the "2 days plus X free day" tickets during upgrades to AP? The message above seemed to indicate that Universal will consider that a 2 day ticket but other forums / threads seem to say that Universal will consider the total number of days (i.e. "2 days plus 1 free day" would be considered a 3 days ticket).

Let us know. Thanks.

My understanding (and I could be wrong so don't quote me) is that if you enter the park on the ticket it then gets entered in their system as how many total numbers of days the ticket is and will then be considered a value of gate price for that number of days. If you try upgrading before entering the park, their system will read it as the number of days purchased instead of the number of days it is good for.

So an example would be the buy 2 days get 3 days free that was recently out.

AFTER entering the gate on the ticket it is a 5 day ticket in the system.
BEFORE entering the gate on the ticket it is a 2 day ticket in the system.

So if you upgraded that ticket at the guest relations booth in the front of the park on the first day before entering the park, you would be given credit for the gate price of a 2 day ticket.

But if you upgraded at guest relations inside the park after entering, then you would be given credit for the gate price of a 5 day ticket for your upgrade.

That is incorrect... the Buy 2 get 3 Free is a 2 day ticket in their system, no matter when you upgrade you will get the 2 day price as credit.

Any ticket that says 'Promo' will only be worth the base value of days, not the extras.

If a website sells you an actual 5 day ticket at a reduced price, then you will get the full credit for the 5 day price.

There were sales in the past where full credit was given for promo tickets, but not now.

No, it is related to whether it is an actual Universal promo or not. The Universal promotional tickets will say "promo" on them and typically have specific expiration dates. These would be worth the Universal price for that promo ticket - no matter where you bought them from (in other words, even if you got a cheaper price from undercover tourist or wherever, Universal still credits you with their official promo price on their own website).

But sometimes UT does their own promotion, usually 2 days + 1 free. It's their own internal promo, and they send you an actual 3 day ticket. Universal doesn't know where you bought it or for how much - their system reads it as a 3 day ticket and you get credited for the Universal price of a 3 day ticket.

Well that is interesting. I bought my ticket from UCT as a buy 2 days get 3 free for 271.95. I plan to upgrade to a seasonal pass which is currently 287.54 after taxes.

I just looked at the ticket and it says "2-park 5 day Park to Park Promo Adult" It does also say undercover tourist on the ticket in tiny print. I just looked at Universals website and a 2 day 2 park ticket is 303.52 and a 5 day 2 park is 356.77 after taxes.

So in my case if I get credit for a regular Universal ticket cost I should be able to upgrade for free whether they read it as a 2 day or a 5 day it won't matter in my case since the pass is cheaper. But if they read it at the price I paid to UCT then I'll be charged 15 bucks to upgrade.

I'm there in 16 days!! If I can remember I'll try to ask what the cost is to upgrade to a higher level pass just so I can see what price difference they are giving me on this ticket. I'll try to come back update everyone after my trip.

The only thing I can't figure out is how much my ticket is worth if it had come from Universal. I know what I paid and I know Universal was selling the same promo tickets, but I don't know how much they were charging for them.

Most of the time they give you the Universal price as credit (just upgraded a 3 park to park ticket bought at discount from UT to Seasonal Pass.. There was no charge to upgrade.)
Rarely I've heard where they try to only credit the discounted amount... If that happens just go to another agent.

I believe they were selling them for $285 before taxes at Universal.
