Seasonal dining surcharge??

Thought I read before theat there are some dates in spring and summer that the buffets have a few dollar srcharge. Anyone have a specific link to this?

Do the dining plans have different prices based on when you travel? This apply if you are DVC and adding it on with a points stay?

That is correct - buffets and other fixed price meals have an approx. $4 surcharge (adult) during peak times.

Yes, the DDP does cost more now during peak times, but for NOW, that doesn't apply to DDP booked through DVC connected with points stays. Most likely because DVC negotiates the price for the DDP and locks it in for a period of time. I wouldn't be surprised to see it go up to match the general public DDP at some point in time.

I've posted about this several times over the past few weeks - Disney hasn't officially released dates yet, but all you have to do is price dates for suspected surcharge/upcharge times, and you get confirmation that way as meals are $4.00 + tax/adult and $2.00 + tax/child more per buffet meal.

By the way, it looks like summer dates are June 13 - August 13. CM and I discovered this last week as I was checking the prices on a few meals.

1) As we all know, WDW doe snot take advantage of travelers.
2) They simply pass along added food costs.
3) During peak seasons, there are added costs for the food.
. . . vegetables refuse to be pulled from the ground near holidays
. . . sauces get excited near holidays, and don't liked to be whipped
. . . beefs want to be near relatives near holidays, so hard to round then up
. . . vinegar and oil are stubborn during peak times, and don't want to mix
. . . heating, lights, A/C are more expensive
4) So, it is outside influence, and not WDW trying to gouge holiday travelers.
5) Maybe.

I think you mean "free" (in quotes)... you're still paying full price for the room and have to pay full price for at least some type of ticket for each member of your party.

(And... on a side note... depending on where you stay and how many are in your party, getting a discounted resort stay in that non-peak season and actually paying for DDP may be a cheaper deal.)

Yup, I said that to the CM right away about free dining usually starting right after that, and she just made a little chuckle into the phone.

Regardless, we have gone back to Tables in Wonderland and will be paying a few surcharges for our character meals as we always travel in July as I'm a teacher.

EXACTLY...Last year the "Free" ddp, would have saved us LESS money than the discount on the BCV 1 bdr villa. You need to figure out where the better deal is for your situation.The "Free" dining plan can not be combinedwith any other discount, so you pay full price on the room and a minimum of a 1 day park ticket per person in your party.All members on your party MUST be on the same plan as well. For us we saved ALOT more by sticking with a room discount and paying for the dining
