just in case, I asked for prescription seasickness medicine for my daughter and she tried it to see if it would cause too much sleepiness. It was fine.

I asked my dr for a prescription ...this one says it causes blurry vision. I don't want blurry vision!

It seems the older I get, the more motion sickness I have,...no more twirly rides!! So I'm worried about being seasick on the cruise. What are other good options besides the seasick patches? Our room is Forward.

Our very first plane ride, I Was worried about my daughter...it was me that got really sick from turbulence. Motion sickness. Blech.

Make sure to ask your doctor but Rugby travel sickness from Amazon was perfect for me. I took it every evening before dinner including two days before the cruise. Zero seasickness.

Aww shoot! Back ordered. I should have asked before but didn't realize this RX would be so bad.

Try ginger pills in powder form. These can be obtained from Amazon (Sailor's Secret) or from your local health food store. I am not aware of any side effects from taking these pills and found that anyone I know who has taken these upon feeling the symptoms of sea sickness has felt much better after an hour of taking ginger pills.

We take Zofran Oral Dissolving Tablets prescribed from the doctor. They're perfect!!!!

My family has never taken medication for sea sickness. We've completed 6 cruises and have always used Sea Bands. They work great and haven't failed us yet. I didn't want any of us on medication that could cause any side effects while on our vacation.

Wish my head would work without the meds. I tried on two other ships one larger and the second smaller. Bed ridden 24-36 hours each time. But I feel sick after the Epcot movie every time also.

I picked up ginger in pill form...all I could find. I also have over the counter seasickness medicine...last resort as I'm afraid it will make me drowsy. I need to take it before we leave to see how I feel but I've been too busy! Maybe tomorrow. Time is running out! We leave for Universal Wednesday.

I get sea sick too, and our cruise across the North Sea, Around Iceland, and back had me worried. I took Bonine every night before bed (so I could sleep through the drowsy stage), and this worked very well for me, although there were a few times I needed to lie down for 15-30 min on the more rough days.

In addition, I brought prescription Zofran (anti-nausea), and prescription patches (the blurry vision/dry mouth side effects). Also, my trip to Walmart netted Ginger caps (all natural), and some herb drops to apply behind the ear ("drug-free"). I also dug out my sea bands from way back when. Basically, I felt I had everything I would need if I really got sea sick -it was a long cruise, so didn't want the misery. I only used the Bonine with great success.

I use Bonine -- it is nondrowsy and over the counter. I even take it on excursions so I don't get car sick. We all took it on the whale watching and while a great many people were throwing up overboard (rough seas), we were fine.

There are many meds out on the market. If you have problems with motion sickness I suggest you call your Family Doc and asked what maybe best for you and you family.

A old sailors meds is to eat saltines, if often helps quite a bit. The crackers soak up the liguid in your tummy and stop it moving around, releaving the sick feeling.

That's the patch and it's the ONLY thing that works for me. I get sick in the car if you go in reverse too fast.
The patch will dilate your eyes slightly causing slightly blurred vision. For me, it's mild and a minor inconvenience so that I can cruise. It will also give you dry mouth so drinking a bit more than normal is key. Take the patch off, the symptoms go away.
I can not cruise without it. Nothing else works for me.

The reviews said taking the patch off made symptoms worse! I wasn't worried about dry mouth but double vision doesn't sound fun! I'm hoping I won't be seasick. Just trying to plan ahead in case of it. I don't have much boat experience to know!

I have only used the patch behind the ear starting the night before. No seasickness and no side effects for me.

I get some motion sickness and have found Bonine or non-drowsy Dramamine work just fine. I take them starting the night before the cruise. The usually only take them if I feel I might need them.

We have high-deductible insurance, so I pay out of pocket for my doctor's visits and meds (we haven't hit our deductible yet), so I try not to bother with prescription meds for motion sickness. #imcheap

My doctor told me about her daughter being sick on the Magic. No medicine seemed to help. Then, someone told her about Chia seeds that the acupuncturists will place on you at Senses Spa! My mom and I tried it and IT WORKS! They place two in both ears, one behind both ears, and one on each wrist. They just put a little beige tape over it and they stay on for the duration of your cruise. We do it every time!

Good grief! My parents and grandparents use that patch and nobody has ever reported one of those symptoms. I've used it three times and never had any of those side effects. My only side effect, ever, was when I got off the ship, I still walked like I was on it (it was kind of fun). But so did my daughter and she hadn't even been on the patch. Out of the three generations of experience I can offer you, five experiences were seven day cruises, three experiences were on a four-day cruise. Sure things can go wrong with any medicine. But the drug wouldn't be allowed if it gave more trouble than good. Don't let a few people with a bad experience keep you from using it if you think it will help you. I recommend that you put it on just prior to departure. Then as its efficacy wears off, if you start to feel poorly, use another or try other options. Just remember the objective here is not to spend the day in bed.
If you're the kind of person that doesn't do well with a lot of movement, plan for the worst. If you've never really experienced a lot of problems, go for the minimalist plan.

Certainly lots of people use it just fine. But it is a prescription, with notable potentially serious side effects for some people. As with any scrip -especially a new one, talking with doctor and pharmacist is important.

Disney has seasickness meds on board at guest services.. I've only needed to use it at most once each cruise and it worked like a charm.
