I was shopping at Sears today and was able to make a donation to the Disaster Relief Fund. I made a $50.00 donation and Sears doubled that to $100.00!!! You may pay by: cash, credit card, debit card or Sears/Eaton Card. When you use your Sears card you do not have to fill out any extra paperwork for the income tax donation receipt as they have personal information attached to your Sears card. This differs when you pay by cash, debit or other credit cards, as you will have to fill out a separate sheet with personal information so they can send the income tax receipt for any donations over $10.00. They are not really advertising this and I found out because my sister made her donation yesterday (some employees are asking at time of purchase, and some are not). They will be taking donations for the next week.
Sears was already my favourite department store, but now they have really outdone themselves!!! Most other stores are just taking small donations (The Bay and Zellers are allowing you to donate your HBC points as well), but since they are matching donations, dollar for dollar, this is really going to help send a lot of money to the victims of the terrorist attacks. Just wanted to let all the Canadian DIS'ers know about this fantastic opportunity so that we can continue to show our support for the victims, their families, and the relief workers. Hope everyone that is able to donate, will do so.
