The gang are:
Me, Andrea ,38 planner, worrier - 'I just think I will check that again'
DH, Chris, 44 driver,porter,waiter.etc...'did you say food & drink festival?'
DD, Meg, 10, loves a guy from HSM, amongst others! want to go to a 'mall'
DD, Mimi, 5, 'pink' crown firmly in place. wand in hand
It has taken me a while to start my trippie, mainly because I had so many photo's to edit etc. add to that a gloom that decended when we got home as we were no longer in the land of the mouse.
Anyway, here is Day 1.
We got up at the ungodly hour of 3:30.a.m.
Why oh why did I not book to stay overnight at Gatwick. Because I am tight thats why! I reminded myself, having spent a small fortune on the holiday, we decided to cut out that cost.
It seemed like a good idea then, but not now!
Cases were loaded and we set off to Gatwick. I had checked in online the night before and printed boarding passes so we were 'good to go'.
Uneventful trip down. Parked ok, shuttle to Gatwick ok, dropped bags and headed off for breakfast.
Killed a bit of time in the shops as you do, and I then suggested to DH that we go through customs and security as it may take a while. As we made our way to security I realised to my horror that the queue was monsterous. At this point DH said he knew it would be long as he had seem the end of the queue earlier.
At this relevation I had a mild and calm chat with him about letting me know this a little earlier ( OK , it was more of a full on row in Gatwick, with me blowing several fuses and telling him that if we missed our flight it was all his fault! )
Right, so we tried to find the end of the queue, which consisted of a lass holding up a lolipop type thing with the letter 'Q' on it. But as I got nearer to her she moved further away... this continued until she was nearly at the virgin check-in desk and she was in serious danger of me rugby tackling her to the ground, to stop her in her tracks so I could join the end of the riduculously long queue.
Finally, I reached her after nothing short of an Olympic type sprint. ( are there still slots for 2012?) We were in the snail type Q forever.
People were being called for flights and fasttracked.
Eventually we made it to screening and I was pulled over for a body search. my DH thought this was fab
We did make it to our gate in time and the flight was delayed about 15 mins. Whilst we were waiting to board, this middle aged eastern european lady stopped me. She could not speak a word of english and has a laminated sign with her name and flight info on. I got her sat at her gate which was next to ours. She kept coming over and asking me for something but her flight was not for another 3 hours. She droppped her passoprt etc. oh dear. I was concerned about leaving her as she was clearly worried. As I boarded I had a word with the Virgin folks to make sure she was ok. Hopefully she got to her destination ok. My DH made some comment about me being a muppet magnet!
some photos on the flight ( Ruby Tuesday) and of our food. Adults were ok,I had chicken tikka as did DH ( the GU dessert was to die for! ) but I was not impressed with kids meal. Their pasta was soggy and yukky.
our snack served before landing
we landed about 14:50 and made our way to our transfer bus.
The bus driver ws telling us about the 'lovebug' season. We had arrived at the height of this. these are little black fly type insects that are always 'at it' by all acounts. Put it this way, I never saw just one of them
We arrived at Coronado Springs about 5 pm. Checked in and headed to our room, we were in Cabanas 8B room 8661. Good location I thought
Here is our room before we 'moved in' and made it homely!
we had some dinner at the Pepper Market, I can't remember what. we were all so tired!
unpacked and had an early night.
Tommorrow : Epcot and dinner at Coral Reef.
