Search, Update, or Continue at 8 am?

Which one is the way to go for the hard to get room at 8 am? Using desktop...I know using the phone is useless.

I tried searching what I wanted then hit update at 8 am using world clock...that did not yield the results I wanted as the room was gone.

Today I highlighted the room (which was available a few minutes before 8) and hit continue at 8 am and it gave me the error message that I searched too early and to try again. Did I perhaps search a millisecond before 8? That's possible but in general should this tactic work? Which is the fastest way? I haven't tried to do this in a long time...be the fastest draw in the west.

You can hit either search or update at a couple seconds before 8:00 and then grab your room. Continue no longer works. It works off of the time of the page load.

Personally I just reload (CMD-R or CTRL-R) at 7:59:58 and then am usually able to grab the room I want without an error (unless of course I am too slow).

I search before 8am and then hit continue right at 8am. That has been working for me recently. Maybe you hit continue a little early.
Interesting, that has not worked for me in a while. I wonder if there is a difference in 11 vs 7 month bookings…I know there shouldn’t be, but it is DVC IT.

It is possible I hit search slightly early. So what you two are saying is that the continue definitely works? Which yes seems to me to be the fastest one click way to get the room. Ok so will try this again tomorrow...press update a few seconds before to make sure the room is still there then go to continue. I wish there was a way to filter to ONLY the one room type you want but not a big deal. Boy what a game huh lol.

Ah wait I thought you were saying the same thing about continuing. So you do the full search a few seconds before and just go to book the room and it works? But you do it before 8? Sorry I may be misunderstanding your procedure.

I hit reload like 1 or 2 seconds prior to 8:00 and then hit continue as quickly as possible. This usually works. If I reload / update the page say like 30 seconds beforehand then continue never works for me.

ah I see what you're saying. Ok will try to update maybe 5 seconds before and then click through by the time it hits 8. Thanks

This method is what has worked for me so far (on three occasions, so a VERY small sample size lol). I didn't even use a world clock, just simply clicked right when my laptop changed time.

So based on what I said I tried you think I probably just clicked too early right?

It sounds like it. I make sure I refresh my search at like 7:58 (which it sounds like you did as well) and then select the room (showing as available) and then I hover my mouse over the continue button and click right after it turns 8am.

This is exactly what I do too.
OK then I got too excited and pressed it early. Will try tomorrow and update! Thanks.

Yup worked! Although the one I wanted wasn't available was able to grab the more point heavy "hard to get room". It's all good I needed an excuse for another contract anyway. Thanks for the advice with this!
What were you trying for?

Hopefully someone is walking and you can modify to it in the morning.
If they are walking it...which I'm sure there are a few...then they are holding onto them for dear life! All good though as I look at this almost like a game now...the most dangerous game! The best part is even when I'm set with my reservation I'll still have my waitlists and check every single day to watch inventory all the way to 7 months then from there again right up until the actual trip. DVC isn't just about the room anymore but the entertainment and intrinsic satisfaction he daily searching provides. Weird I know lol

Totally get this! I've really enjoyed the competitive or "gamified" nature of DVC so far; although I'm sure I'll likely grow tired of it some years down the road.

Yes I can see how it can grow tiresome after a while but for now it keeps the blood moving! I was actually going to write a whole post about the gamification being an unintended side effect that DVC uses to it's advantage now. Maybe at some point.
