Sea World?

We're going to be at OKW 3/5 - 3/12 and were considering taking a day to go to Sea World. We've been to Disney twice before and never made it there. Any suggestions on whether or not to go? Anything I should know? Thanks

I'd say go. Of course, I'm somewhat bias, I have a two-year annual pass so I come and go there on most of my trips to Orlando. If you are looking for a theme park with lots of rides (there are a few - Kraken, Artic Adventure, etc), this will probably not be your style but if you like shows and performances, you should like it.

My kids are 13, 11, 9, and 7. We have been to SW many times and always LOVE it. They have a couple of roller coasters, but we are not thrill ride people. It is mostly shows, with a few exhibits too. You get a show schedule when you walk in. Some of the shows are very funny. Overall, SW is very educational but also a good relaxing time. I would enjoy it even without kids. We have always had good counter service food there too.

How far a drive is it from WDW?

Sea World is a first class park, focusing on aquatic wildlife. It is very clean and quite enjoyable. We go there every trip.

The shows are wonderful (Shamu, Sea Lion, Dolphin, watersport) and the exhibits are great. Ever walk through a clear plexiglas tunnel in the middle of a shark tank with those beasts swimming next to and above you? It's very cool!

For us, Sea World is a must-do every year.

SeaWorld is a very short drive from Disney. I would say about 15 minutes, give or take a little depending on where in Disney you are.

If you go, I would also recommend looking into the Dining options they have. We ate dinner at the Shark Encounter restaurant. It was awesome. The tables faced this one wall that was a huge fish tank. It was filled with sharks swimming all over. They also have a dinner where you can dine with Shamu, and a luau (sp??).

This was our first trip to SeaWorld and we enjoyed it very much. I'm not sure if you would be returning to Disney again in 2005, but we purchased a FunCard which is unlimited admission for 2005. It was only $10 more than the one day ticket, and we can use it for our trip in Dec. Or, if you do buy the one day ticket you can get a pass to return again for free within the next 7 days. Our friends used this for the day they flew home. They had a later afternoon flight and didnt want to waste a day on their Disney pass. So they went to SeaWorld for 1/2 day and it didnt cost them anything.

I enjoy feeding and petting the dolphins, sting-rays.

You can enjoy feed the seals - from a distance.

I also enjoy the shows - they change the entire show (well not the animals - nor the plot) - every 2 to 3 years (or have).

I definitely enjoy SW - if you are over 50 - they have a great deal on the annual passes.

you can also buy your annual passes on a monthly basis.

if you don't think you will be back to SW that often - then the fun pass is a great deal - or a 1 day pass (you generally get 2 days for it at the parks)

We LOVE Seaworld. It is definitely worth doing.

check with front desk (while you're staying at Disney) about going to Sea World. They are very friendly about finding the best ticket prices and cheep transportation (sometimes they even volunteer to drive you in a van and pick you up). I use to work at Disney and durning our 3 day training, they told us to always be helpful and provide the best service, especially when guests want to check out other parks in the area. The trip from WDW to Sea World depends on where you are coming from. If you leave from the Downtown Disney area, I'll say it takes about 15-20 minutes tops to get there (add on these times to 20 minutes to get a better estimate: epcot/ disney studios area= 7 minutes, animal kingdom= 14 minutes, magic kingdom= about 15 minutes). But definitely talk to the front desk people.
