Sea World Spooktacular

We are planning to spend one day at SeaWorld during our trip at the end of October. We will be there during the time that they have the trick-or-treating on weekends. I am thinking that it will be busier on those days and was wondering if it is worth it to go then or just go during the week. Any advice/info would be appreciated.

We attended Shamu's Spooktacular Oct 31/04 and I thought it was great. There were booths set up all throughout the park where the kids could go and grab a treat and they did not have to stand in line very long at all. Usually there were just 2-3 kids ahead of them and the lines went very fast. I didn't notice an unusual higher number of people in the park because of this, just your typical tourist crowds. I thought my kids would be upset because of missing out on trick or treating at home, but this was enough for both of them, ages 7 and 8. They got a nice haul and didn't have to dress up...

Thanks for the info. I think I will plan on going for the spooktacular. My kids are 7 & 5 and will probably have a good time then.

We went in 2002 and had great fun. There were some good Halloween photo ops, the trick or treating (which kids love) and the night-time Shamu show was great. We hope to go to the Spooktacular when we are back in Florida in 2006.

Is this something that goes on on the days posted or is it something you buy a different ticket for? We are planning on going on one of the days listed so I wanted to be prepared if we need to have costumes ready. Thanks for any help.

No, you don't need to buy a separate ticket for Spooktacular. It is usually just held on a couple of days only - normally a weekend.

We didn't see any adults dressed up at all and only some kids were but that didn't stop them from trick-or-treating - all kids are allowed to!

Is the ticket for Spooktacular more expensive than a regular day? We are going on Sunday the 8th, but I wasn't aware that's a party day. I can't find the price of a one day normal ticket so I'm wondering if we chose the wrong day, since the Spooktacular isn't important to us.

The standard one day ticket is all that we purchased. There is no special ticket needed for spooktacular. We are considering the sleepover. Has anyone done it? Is it appropriate for DS17, who likes and gets along with kids, and DD12? Where do you sleep? Do you get any sleep? Do they feed you? When does sleepover start? Sleepover and next day is $107 per person. Does anoyone know know of any discounts?

I don't know the exact details on that sleepover, but I can give you some general info based on their other sleepovers: Yes, they feed you. Generally a pizza dinner and muffins/juice type breakfast. According to their web page (http://seaworld.org/adventure-camps/swf/sleepover/popular/halloween-sleepover.htm), you sleep in the shark encounter exhibit. You'll probably get some sleep, but you're basically "camping out" on the floor of an exhibit, so it isn't like sleeping in your bed at home!

It is very unusual to be able to find discounts to the sleepover programs, but the sleepover program is $75, so if you can get a ticket for less than $32 from some other discount program, you might be able to save some money.

Is there an age limit for the candy giving? I will be there with a group of 8th graders and I know they would be all about some candy, lol. I will discourage my group though if it will keep some young children from getting any. I didn't even realize Sea World has this.

Motherfletcher, I talked to someone from SeaWorld this evening about the Spooktacular sleepover. It is evidently intended for kids up to 5th grade, so both of your kids would probably not enjoy it. I know that the Dolphin Lovers sleepover is meant for older kids and teens (and parents), but it's quite a bit more expensive -- you sleep in tents at Discovery Cove.

Thanks, CatLady. My son loves kids that age but my daughter wouldn't. I was kind of looking forward to some sleep too. HHN is the likely alternative.

Wow! That's great! Were there a few years ago and DD loved it. We'll be there in early October and have season passes, so we'll have to check it out!
