I was wondering if Sea World was as wheelchair friendly as Disney? I went last year and walked (stupid, stupid, stupid) and almost couldn't make it through the day. I know there are alot of "walk through" attractions. I was wondering about Wild Artic specifically. I do not want to do the motion simulator and I was wondering if I could stay in my chair the whole show. I know they have a motion and non motion version of the ride.
Are there any other tips I should know about using the wheelchair in Sea World?? Any and all tips would be appreciated!
Thanks!!!

Most of it is accessible but the best part unlike Disney is if you go in your own chair your ticket and your companions ticket are half off.

At Wild Arctic, there is of course the simulator, but there is also a "land" option for those who can't do the simulator. You will be able to stay in your chair. You see the exact video as you would see on the simulator, but the room you're in is not moving. Then at the end, you exit the video room and go down a long hallway to the animals. Perfectly wheel-chair accessible. You need not worry.

I don't use a wheel chair myself, but from what I've seen, Sea World is totally wheelchair accessible.

if you don't want to do the simulator of Wild Artic just let the CM know and they can take you around to the display area without doing the simulator. We did this in June with 3 of us in wheelchair/ECVs.

when a person is in a wheelchair in the splash zone - a worker will kneels in front of them (so they can still see) - this tells the sea creatures - NOT to splash here.

no worries.

mother did fine in the wheelchair I rented for her.

they have very fast ECV - so be carefully if you rent one of these.

Thanks Everyone!! I'm glad to hear all this!

They have added some seating in non splash zones too.
I meant to say that they have some seating in both areas, so if you don't want to be in the splash zone, tell them. We didn't really care (and DD actually wanted to be splashed).

I didn't know they would tell the sea creatures not to splash.

I found at sea world, some of the ecv accesible seating weren't in the most desirable sections. Sometimes way off to the side, down at the bottom in splash zones.

If you are able to do a few steps, it might be worth it to get seating more towards the middle, up a little higher to see more of the stage at the different shows.

I'm remembering the dolphin show. The wheel chair accesible section was way over to the right, when looking at the stage area.
To me it didn't look like a good spot, so we parked the ecv and trekked over to regular seating. If you go early enough you won't have to go very far up the steps.

Good luck,

For the Shamu show we sat near the center and out of reach of the splash zone. However, for the finale we were told to move if we didn't want the boys getting wet. We moved their wheelchairs back and it was a good thing since the whole area got wet!
We had a little problem with the boys in their chairs for feeding the dolphins. They could not reach over the side of the tank being seated so we had to lift them up. This was the highlight of the day for them though and we got some great pics. :sunny:

Thanks for the tips! I CAN get out and walk so feeding the dolphins should be ok. I can't do steps very well, so the show seating is a biggie for me. If I don't have to go far I'll be ok.
Thanks Again!!
