Hi,

I`ve been reading about this and it sounds really good. Please can anyone help with a little more info.

Katie is 10 - it says over age 10! does that mean 10 and over older?
Where do you actually go a see the dolphins - is it at the pool where everyone else goes or is it a seperate area just for groups.
Can you take photo`s. Is it worth $40 for an hour.

Any more advice would be very much appreicated.

Did Discovery Cove last time and was going to book again, but am looking for alternatives, before I commit to DC again.

Also anyone booking Sea World on line can you advise if the ticket prices include tax or do I have to add %? on.

Many thanks.

I'm not 100% sure and hope someone can give you a definitive answer but my take on it was 10+, i.e. they have the adult ticket and not the child's ticket. My DD will be 9 next time we are there so I looked into this as I think we would love it but we will have to wait until next year when she is 10. You might want to try calling SW to get a definitive answer or you could go to their website and e-mail customer relations. I have done that several times with questions and they have always gotten back to me. If you and your DD are able to do this please come back and give a review. I would be really interested to know how you both liked it.

Hi I have this booked for April, the tax was incl in the $40, sorry can't answer camera ?, but I have heard its very good

When I did it last year, 10 year olds were able to do it and you couldn't bring anything that the dolphins might be able to grab. I had to take a pen out of my shirt pocket. My guess is that you can't take pictures but they'll have a photographer there and the photo didn't cost that much as I recall. I still keep mine on my desk. I would say it was worth the $40 although I wish it was a little longer.

Thanks everyone. DD was 10 in November so I am assuming she will be ok.

DTop - can you give me any more info - what happens, how long it is, do you actually get to touch the dolphins etc - would like to do it very much but don`t want to be in a ``classroom situation`` whilst they tell us all about them and then we look at them swimming round!! if you know what I mean. Would hope there is a bit of interation (being able to feed / touch them)

All help and advice much appreicated. Our alternative is to do DC again, but I wanted to do different things this holiday.

Many thanks

It's a walking tour with a tour guide and about 10 people and lasts about 1 hour. During the first part of the tour, the guide gives you lots of info on the mothers and calves and about dolphins in general. The second part consists of you going back into a gated off area of the Nursery. When I did it, there were trainers with buckets of fish. They told us how to get the animals to do certain behaviors and when to reward them with fish. I don't know if all the tours are the same but when I did it, I got to "shake hands" with the dolphins and pet them, etc.. It's not like a day at DC but it's lots of fun for an hour tour!

We're doing this in April ~ we're the same in that however much we loved our day at DC we wanted to do something a little different. My middle DD is dolphin mad so she'll love this. :goodvibes

Does this take place in the area just before you get to the riverfront or is there another area where they have more dolphins and babies behind the scenes away from the general public. I think we would love doing that.

Hi not sure where it takes place, but I recently found out that it only takes place in afternoon, had to change my date of tour luckily they had alternative dates that suited us:thumbsup2

Ahhh, I did wonder. We booked online and when I read that the last time to check in was 11am I did guess it was going to be a midday/afternoon thing.

What day are you going? We are going April 9th.

Hi we are going the 3rd of April now, doing Sharks deep dive same day:scared1:

Its a separate pool in a quiet area. Half the pool has wooden barriers about two feet from the edge of the pool and the public can view from there but the other half is where you are with the trainers with no barriers.

We were split into three groups with a different trainer for each group and each trainer plays with different dolphins. Our tour had 9 in total and we were a group of just two. Obviously as its the nursery it does depend on how many mums and babies are there at that time. One trainer has a pregnant mum and he got her to turn on her back and we could rub her tum and feel how tight it was. Another had a baby and the other had an auntie. We got to feed the auntie, send her off to jump and do a couple of tricks. The baby we got to feed and we moved round these trainers with plenty of time with each.

A Seaworld photographer was on the other side of the pool but to be honest I didn't even know they were there until one of the trainers told us although the trainer who led the group also took some great photos with my camera. The bottom pictures were rather badly scanned onto my pc!

I would recommend this tour to everyone and great value for $40.

Ooh thank you edinburghlass, lovely photos you have there. I can't wait to do this now. :goodvibes

Cooooool - love those pictures!!

We are booked to do this when we go in Sept 07 and I am very excited about the whole thing! Does anyone know what time in the afternoon it would be? I suppose they do more than one tour in a day so that is probably a pointless question...

We were there in May and I thought it was booked for 11.00 am but when we checked in at CS we were told to come back for 2.00 pm. I would think though at peak times there is probably more than one tour per day.

Thanks edinburghlass - we have been told to get there for 11am as well. 2pm wouldn't be a bad time at all - I was hoping it wouldn't be too late in the afternoon as my plan is to get there early and not leave too late.

we did it last summer and loved it.
A baby had been born a few days earlier so that was very exciting.
You can also take your own phots and the guide was really good with everyone. I was in a group with one trainer, my son and another child so there plenty of time to touch and feed the dolphin.

you'll have a blast!

Hi this tour was excellent heres a mini review of our day on the tour, our tour time was 1:30pm
Its time to head to entrance for our Dolphin nursery tour, there are 10 in our group and our guide is Nikki,we are escorted to the nursery area and given a talk about the dolphins and how the reproduce, DD asks about the birth notices around the nursery area and our guides admits these are very outdated there are a few young dolphins in the nursery and they are pretty excitable as they know its near their feeding time, DD gets splashed by a dolphin as he jumps up to see if we have any food for him, I realise I will need to put the camera in a safe place as there's a lot of water splashing around, so a tip is take a waterproof camera as u will get great pics, after our talk we are let through a restricted area and introduced to the keepers, we then get to feed the dolphins some are more greedy than others and one in particular pushes the other dolphins out of the way, we are split into 3 groups as their are 3 families so we all get a dolphin each, u get to feed the dolphin and pet him we had AJ and he was pretty excitable and got into trouble a couple of times as he kept nosing around at other group, this is a great personal experience and u get quite awhile with the dolphins its well worth doing.
