OMG I forgot about them, but yes, I did have them as a kid. I never knew what they were...guess I learned something new today! I can't believe they still sell them though! Too funny!

BTW...I feel taken advantage of by those ads on the back of comics too. The whole little Sea Monkey family living in their castle was cruel to young minds.

had them as a kid and have them right now sitting on our kitchen counter. this is our second kit in recent years. the first ones seemed to go on forever. we had several sets of babies and even got to watch one lay the eggs/babies.

Any time I see sea monkeys I just have to buy them and try again!! Every time the water gets dumped over too soon and I never get to see anything more than my little specks. It's been every excuse too... cat... dog... mom... bookbag... elbow... they all knock the containers over!

That ad reminded me... when I was a kid, this must have been in the early 80s, I was at my grandparents' house and looking through some of my uncle's old comic books from the late 50s/early 60s. There was an ad in the back of one of the books for Sea Monkeys for 25 cents. Since there was no expiration date on the ad, I clipped it out, taped my quarter to an index card, and sent the whole thing in. Wouldn't you know it, a few weeks later they actually shipped me a whole Sea Monkeys kit for a quarter??

I remember seeing the ad and wanting some Sea Monkeys. Never did get them.
