The leg's of PP seem to attract Sea Lice at certain times with sea currants and CC has alway's had them.

I've heard on here that if the tide is in the wrong direction, it makes it worse and especially along the Cabana area.

DCL deal with the sand flea's, but I guess there's not much they can do about the Bamamian water's! lol! :lmao:

Hopefully the Sea Safe people have recommended will help you next time and not put you off going back to PP for some fun!

Pelican Plunge,

The new platform with a water slide and water spouts!

Pelican Plunge
Swimming distance from shore is the new 2,400-square-foot floating platform—adorned with nautical flotsam and jetsam. At this water-play area and platform, which celebrates the island's native pelicans, take a ride on one of the 2 twisting water slides and end up in the refreshing lagoon. Or, get soaked by the giant "bucket dump" that delivers hundreds of gallons of water on eagerly awaiting bathers beneath.

We got chairs by PP and only swam in that area and we were all itching. never had that happen before. I told my dh that I had read about sea lice on here. We were better after we showered.
Didn't realize the sea lice were more at PP. Now I know to sit in another area.

Okay we are cruising October 2-9th...Are they active in October? I live in Ontario, Canada anybody know where I can get Seasafe from?

thanks everybody.

This is so wierd...we were on the Dream last week and had an odd experience, too. My youngest DD went down the PP once and when she got out she was freaking out itching. She had a welt near her armpit area...actually on her chest. She whined about it and wouldnt stop scratching it. The "medic" checked it and said it didn't look like sea lice, b/c it usually is several little bites all in one area. She had one big welt. So we put ice on it, bought a 2.50 sprite...since the pop station was too far away and I gave her IB for the anti-inflammatory help. This only happened once, although we only did the PP once. HMMMM

They have a website and you can purchase bottles on amazon for $13-15. I keep reading in other threads that they do not sell this on the ship. But I am also reading online reviews that have mixed reviews.. some state that the stuff doesn't work, others say it does and other say that you need to put it everywhere, even underneath your swimsuit because they go where the sun doesn't shine as well lol. :rotfl:

yikes...looks like we may be avoiding PP...the kids will be upset about it but oh well!

Don't avoid PP, just know that if there is irritation, and it is just that, a quick shower is supposed to stop any itching!

Don't upset the kid's, tell them they they might itch for 5 minutes afterwards (and it is only a chance) and to tell you so they can have a shower, and enjoy the slides and all!

I read online that sea lice are most active from April - August so I'm hoping we will be fine for our cruise in Oct. - that's what I'm telling myself anyway! :)

yeah that is exactly what my hubby and i said last night...if all you need is a shower and to clean you bathing suit thoroughly then i don't really see the problem. Yes i am a bit nervous but we'll come to that road when we cross it.

I don't agree with that one parent saying that they are not taking their kids to pelican plunge because of the itching...that's not fair the kids wait all year to go on the cruise then they are told not to play on the water playground because of itching.

I posted about not taking them to PP because of the Sealice, because I have a dd with extremely sensitive skin and she freaks out when she even gets a mosquito bite. If she gets itchy all over, it would not only ruin the day for her but for everyone else in our family. It's my child and my decision!:confused3 Plus I was thinking I'd have my older ds and my dh try it out 1st and let us know if they're itchy or not!
