SDV Orlando 2010, August 27 - 29

Hi -- new to this idea, altho I've read the thread from last/this year before (sorry I didn't know about that one earlier). Haven't ever gone to a crop or an event like SDV, but it sounds pretty fun. Recently started scrapbooking again, including entering the world of Cricut, and it seems like it would be helpful to attend something like this -- going to WDW for it sounds much more fun than driving over to Durham.

Do you "accept" new folks into your group, and is there a "primer" ? -- Looks like you have some of your own activities. It certainly would be better for me to have some people to hang around with, than being totally on my own (haven't found a scrapping group locally yet). I haven't looked at the rez form yet -- how do you specify that you want to be in the same area as others from DIS? (BTW, have you done lime green t-shirts in the past :) ?).

Do any of you do the local option? Would I miss out on much doing that? (I'm a friendly, sociable sort, but not a good roommate in a hotel room).

All are welcome, no one would be turned away. Several of the ladies do the local package and book their room either with their DVC points or directly thru Disney.

We generally meet up at the tables to scrap and do a character breakfast that any and all can join in.

We've done blue and pink shirts but not green, but we are open. We you book your reservation just put down you want to be with the DIS group.

It will be great to have you join the group. :grouphug:

Congrats on the new laptop ScrappyTink. Lucky you! wish I could get a little Christmas around here. I soooo want to buy the Expression. But I'm holding off b/c there are many other things I should be doing with the $$. Oh well, I'll keep dreaming :goodvibes

We are happy to add members to our group. As Lisa said when you book- you just need to let Nancy know that you want to be with the dis group and also give Buffy your name (full name by pm) so that when she requests seating she adds you to our group list- we will probably be at 2-3 tables next year if everyone comes that is planning on it.

We always do a breakfast together- everyone is invited to come.

This year we did some make and takes on our own and I think everyone enjoyed that so we will probably plan on doing a few next year too.

Hey everyone,
I'm Pam - I live in Chicago. I have been attending SDV Orlando since 2005, but found the DIS group in 2007. I am a High School Special Education administrator for the city and luckily school doesn't start until after Labor day, so I am able to go with DH for a road trip the week before school starts to Scrap.

We have done both the SDV package and the Local packages. This past SDV we booked a room at WL so DH could chill at the pool while I took the boat back and forth to the Contem. I figure out what I would pay with the AP discount vs the SDV group rate since my other half is not scrapping.

I love to scrap, but since packing can be a pain, I have begun to work on cards the last few years at SDV. Birthday cards, holiday cards, and thank you cards. I give them as gifts and use them myself, so its been a productive weekend.

I look forward to seeing many more faces this year!!!

2011 dates are up so those who can't go this time, save your pennies!!!!!

Orlando, FL
08/25/11- 08/28/11

Well, hopefully (HOPEFULLY HOPEFULLY HOPEFULLY!!) I'll be deep in baby-land in 2011 :goodvibes We got our appointment for our fingerprinting with Immigration - one more step on the never-ending road of adoption paperwork!

I just noticed - they're back to 4 days for 2011?

Woo woo!!! :jumping1:

Just booked our airfare with JetBlue (our fave!) for our 2010 WDW vacation/ DCL cruise - which will include the Ohana breakfast with you lovely ladies at the Orlando SDV!!!!!

We got non-stops at our preferred times (and great seats!) for $89 each way! The booking dates must have just opened at JetBlue, as I've been checking and waiting for the window to open up...(I'm a tad impatient!)

I'm doing the happy dance today! Now...just to wait the 10 more months!

I saw that, too! :woohoo:

I'm already looking at make & take projects to do for 2010!
Anyone up for an embossed metal home decor project?
My DH laughed saying that I'd probably come up with others before August!!! and he's right!
and when ya consider all the new crafty stuff that will be released before then! :rolleyes1

I'm thrilled that so many more may be joining the group for 2010!
The more the merrier! :dance3:

Oh the pressure!!! I need to do a make and take.

I think we need to build a schedule. And maybe have a table in the hallway to do it, what do you think?

Psst! 290 days to go!!!!

Oh and mecllap, we welcome everyone!!! We do breakfast on Saturday as a group. And when you register for the event just say you are with the DIS DIVAS.
Then about a month out I email the event coordinators with the full list of our group.

WELCOME!!! I'm new too, but the ladies here really make you feel at home!

How exciting! One more step closer! Hope you hear something soon!

Well.....looks like my plans have changed a little......

Instead of flying in from Missouri, I will be leaving from COLORADO!!!!:banana::banana:

I accepted my counterpart's position in Colorado Springs! Anyway, I'm so excited, I just had to share the news. We will be moving the end of next month so my son can start the new school semester there. Moving at Christmas time....bummer! But, maybe next year, we'll actually have a WHITE Christmas! :yay:

Hello all!! Another newbie to SDV- I've been scrapbooking for 14 years now and love all things Disney and scrapbooking!!! So two of my favorite things into one sounds perfect!! My DH has "approved" my vacation(LOL) and I think my friend Penny will be coming with me. I have looked at all of the pictures and looks like you all had so much fun. I have been on crops and I did a scrapbooking cruise on RCCL and had a blast. I cannot wait!!

Thanks so much!! I am sitting here reading everything about it. It is like a blizzard outside- it has been snowing all night and supposed to snow until tomorrow morning- about 2 feet. So no going out today!!

I hope some of the sn** is gone by the time I am up in your area on New Year's Eve.

Rebecca

Where are you going for New Years Eve?

My parents live on the Eastern Shore in MD (about an hour from Baltimore) and we will be heading to visit them (after we visit Dh's parents in NC). We will be there for a few days to see my brother, SIL, and their children before my brother ships out to Iraq- my SIL and the kids are moving in with mom and dad. My borther and SIL from Boston will be down for a day or 2 of our stay as well. Mom and Dad will be here for Chirstmas and leave early the day after to get ready for all their company- Dad wanted to hear my DH preach Christmas Eve again.

Sounds great!! The snow will likely be gone before then, we normally do not have snow in December- especially not like this. :scared1:
