All right girls. I am thinking about doing the SDV in my old stomping grounds in Jersey and I want to know everything there is to know.

What is it like?
What do you bring?
Have you left for meals? (a lot of great restaurants in that area)
Is it worth the money?

Talk to me!!

I went to SDV WDW and had a blast. It's non stop cropping, the meals included were good. The hotel, of course, was fabulous.

Carefully read and even research the classes offered. Those are usually posted less than a month before the event. The descriptions for the classes offered when I went were lacking. The kits that came out of the classes were gorgeous. When all the classes were done, the excess kits were set up in a room and you could buy whichever you wanted.

Oh, you'll have a blast, whether you're an experienced or brand new scrapper.

I've been going to the SDVs (in Jersey) since 2000 and I look forward to the Abby (Absecon-A.C.) one every year :thumbsup2 I even got one of my good friends (who's not a fanatic scrapper like I am) hooked as well.

I can't wait for Long Branch this year - 1. it's closer than AC; 2. it's right on the beach - yep, I'm not going to care whether it's freezing I'll be taking some walks on the beach; 3. they hotel still has a SPA, so I'll be doing the facial, etc.; 4. the company-I love walking around and seeing everyone's LOs - I'm nototious for working on a LO, taking a walk, yakking then coming back; 5. not having to worry about cooking; 6. not having to worry about the DDs or DH :rotfl: .....oh that's all I can think right now.

I actually get about 30 pages done which is pretty good for me since I take forever on LOs and I'm not a chronological scrapper. One year, I think it was in 2002, I did 47 pages but those were pretty simple ones.

Hope to see you there! If you decide to go, join us over on the SDV board we're already doing some swaps and secret pal.

OMG! That certainly is a dream vacation! I googled it. Never knew they had something like that in Jersey.

That hotel is right where I grew up. My favorite restaurant in the whole world is right near there, as are all the bars I frequented in my 20's. If I can get my girlfriend to go in on a double I would love to attend.

What do you bring? Cricut, laptop, cuttlebug. Do you kit everything before hand? I never gone to anything for that long, so I wouldn't even know where to begin what to pack.

What restaurant?

Things to bring, wow, that's a good one since I bring LOTS even though I try to plan and bring the kits. Which I'm already starting to do especially this Disney trip in June and Caribbean trip in April.

Last year, I had two wire desk shelves stacked in front of me and on them I had my small plastic drawer with lots of the embellishments, then I also had my ribbons which I have in the ribbon organizers from Target; beside me I had the plastic 12 x 12 drawers with the PP paper organized by theme (i.e. Disney, beach, vacation, cheer & dance) and against one of the walls I had my PaperTaker (Crop-in-Style P3) that has all my cardstock. I always ask Nancy to put me at the end of a row near a wall. A few friends brought their Cricut since I don't have one that helped ALOT. Send me your e-mail and I can send you some photos I have from past SDVs.

I also try and go shopping with the vendors when I first get there just to get the things which I forgot or just get new things. Three of the vendors are absolutely fantastic, two of them are stores that always have the newest and best, they are Scrap-doodle-do and The Scrapbook Cafe; the third vendor is one that has wonderful chipboard albums and shapes, she also does the album engraving.

Also, the SDV has a room with all sorts of die-cut machines and computers that you can use the whole time you're there. I always sign up to use the computers late at night and then I just do all my journaling from the day LOs at one time.

The restaurant is Barnacle Bills in Rumson, which is where I grew up. I would definitely be leaving to go there for dinner one night. That is if I go.

I am going to have to get on my girlfriend, who lives down in Phili, and see if she wants to go.

Sounds like so much fun! Would love to see the pics!

OMG! I grew up in Rumson too. RFH class of 1990! Val's is my must stop at when I'm up that way. Is Barnacle Bill's still there? I haven't been there in forever.

Wow! I haven't looked into SDV for quite a while. In fact when I last checked them out they were just beginning and only had a few events. I was never able to go. But I just checked it out and they have a location just a few minutes up the road from me! I can't make it to the next one but there is one in the Spring that I might have to think about. I can do the local package, but there is something to be said for spending at least one night there. May depend on finances.

What sort of classes do they typically have? I don't see any listed for the upcoming events. When do they usually post things like the classes and menus?

Just checked out the SDV site and there are 2 weekends listed for NJ! Which weekend are people considering? I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it, but if I do it would be the later weekend. Is there an official SDV NJ thread? Oh I soooooo want to go (foot stomp)!

Too wierd!!!! I would have been class of 90 but moved out before HS. Went to Dean Porter and Forestdale. Moved back after HS. Just moved up here from Red Bank 5 years ago. My DH is actually RFH class of 88. Going down for his reunion this weekend.

Small World!!!

For Orlando they were posted within the month of SDV. I think the menu was posted maybe 2 weeks out (could have been closer.

I'm going to the 1st weekend just because it works out for me and because I don't want to wait an additional 2 weeks :rotfl: it's bad enough that it's later in February than last year!

We should start an official SDV-NJ thread! I've been posting in the dreamevents forums.

I can't wait to go!

Anyone definately going to the SDV in Long Branch? Which weekend? And would anyone be interested in meeting up?

I am going to a so called scrapbooking retreat Nov.14-16 at a Circle Square Ranch. All meals included, dorm type rooms(4 to a room plus bathroom), Demos, prizes, goodie bags, scrapbook all weekend in your PJs.S scrapbook store set up for anything you could need. Scrapbook garage sale, hiking trails, horseback riding if you wish.:rotfl:
I just NEED to go shopping and add to my packing lists.
NO KIDS OR DHS,PHONES,CLEANING by me. I just will PRAY that I come home to a improved, cleaned home.:woohoo: :lmao:

I was interested in going. But I would be going as a single. Are any other singles going? I would love to catch up on some pages.

I may be going as a single. My one friend isn't sure if she'll be able to make it. She's more thinking it won't work out for SDV in Long Branch.
