SDMT breaking down a lot?

Hi all!

Sorry if this has been asked before!

It's just I've been looking at the wait times on the my disney experience app a lot lately as I'm soooooo excited for our upcoming August trip and I'm noticing that it says the new mine train is temporally closed quite often.

Is this the case,that it's breaking down/closed a lot during the day or is it just the app not being accurate? Just wondering if they're having issues with it running since it opened,thought someone on here might have some experience having been there?

Thanks in advance and I have my fingers crossed it's the app and not the mine train as I reeeeallly wana try it when we go

Oh yes! I didn't think of the weather,could definitely be a possibility!

It does seem to be 3 or 4 times when I check each day it says it's closed,but maybe I just check at the wrong times lol!

I just hope they're not having problems with it

I have not been since it opened but I want to say I have read here it goes down with storms. I would check if other outside rides are down and if they are would assume (yes I know that us risky) it is weather related.

Yeah,I've just checked the app and it says SDMT is down and so is BTMR so maybe it is the weather!

Definitely going to have to consider this when trying to get a fastpass time! Will have to try and get one for the night maybe when there's less chance of rain! Thanks for the help figuring it out

Fyi...I do believe when the ride is down during your FP+ time you are able to use it later when it comes back up. The one thing I'm not positive with is how this affects your ability to get a 4th FP+. For example, you use 1st and 2nd FP from 9:30-11:30. You have 3rd scheduled for 7dmt 12-1 but it's storming. Will you be able to get a 4th at 1 for another ride even tho technically you haven't used the 3rd yet b/c you want to use it on 7dmt and it isn't up yet? I think I have read you can, but not positive.

Its the weather. Whenever there is lightning within 5 miles (which is every afternoon in the summer) it will be closed. It does run in the rain though if there is no lightning. Just schedule for the morning and you'll be fine.

You can go back anytime to ride if you have a FP+ and the ride is down. You also get notified that it is..

We didn't see any issues with the entire attraction being down when we were there, but by the second week we were there the cottage scene was already not working - SW and Dopey weren't dancing.

We were there the first week of June and it definitely had breakdowns that were not weather related. They would not give any estimates of when it would be up and running. We felt fortunate to be able to ride it.

Mine train was down first thing this morning and until I left MK around 3:30 and that was way before any weather issues.

7DMT was down almost the entire day last Sunday (not due to weather concerns). It closed down around 11am and was down the rest of the day. [Needless to day we were unable to use our 7pm FP that night.]

I'm sure its a combination of weather and mechanical problems. Its a new ride. Even though it had plenty of testing, they can't test for full loads running all day. Kinks need to be worked out and ride CMs as well as maintenance/repair staff are on a learning curve. As with all things Disney, lately, just put on your patience hat.

It was temporarily closed once while we were there a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was mostly mechanical problems, just kinks they're trying to work out. They honored our FP+ though and it was back up and running later.

When we were there last Thursday it was down during my fastpass time....not weather related. We saw them taking people off. We did not get to ride it because we were too tired to sit and wait for it to come back up!

There was an electrical fire in the control room. The ride is going to be down a couple days....at least.

I so hope it's back up by the 8th. We are spending 3 days at WDW but were planning to just do resorts. Only doing MK so we can ride SDMR.

Seriously. It happened this morning when they went to start the ride up, before the public was back there, so it was pretty hush-hush, but now you know why it was down today and will be again tomorrow.
