SDFP... Here now. Works! *Read Post #48 and Post #671*

From my now trustworthy friend at studios at 930 this morning....
"It worked! It worked! Your cards worked!!!! "

Then this.
"The only thing is... The way fast passes work now is there's a central kiosk to get them and they have attendees checking. BUT if you get behind a confused family that doesn't know what their doing and takes the attention away you can get it done real quick before they check your band/cards. "

My question, do you think they were "checking" or just trying to be helpful, and if you decline help and politely say something like, thank you so much but I think we are all set, will they leave you alone?

I've done SDFP's probably 20 times and never felt like they were looking to see if I was "cheating", only to see if I needed help. Every now and then someone wants to be overly helpful but I just always say "I'm good, thanks!" and they leave me alone.

Okay, I posted the bottom part of this post on the overall FPP question thread so will repeat it here but also will add some SDFP specific things:

I tried with various accounts/people and my conclusion today at Epcot (this is my third day of playing with the Tiers) is:

SDFP Specific:

1. I tried as asked to book a Tier 1 SDFP at a kiosk, use it, then go back to the kiosk and see if I could get another one. I could not. It recognized I had already had a tier 1 and only allowed me to make 2 more Tier 2 choices, just like with a regular ticket. I tried to make a Tier 2 and change it, but of course could only get a Tier 2 alternative. I could not change SDFP's to another park (without going to that park) or book an additional (within the first 3) without going to a kiosk. I could still make changes on my app within tiers.

2. The issues I posted earlier about not being able to change SDFP's on my phone for people I didn't manage (who had their own Disney accounts) were my fault. Although I know at some time these people had their accounts set to allow me to see "All" their plans, both I tried had changed back to allow me to see only "Shared" plans. Neither person had any recollection of changing this and I had to give them step-by-step directions, but once they did I could now see theirs. So this hasn't changed but just throwing out there my problem with it in case anyone else runs into the same thing.

Some reflections on Tiers that don't have to do with SDFP:

1. If you book anything less than 3 FPP's (2 Tier 2 and 1 Tier 1), you will not be able to get a second Tier 1 at the same park. You will be able to get a Tier 1 at the other park (DHS or EP) if you cancel any remaining FPP's (or didn't book them in the first place). If, however, you try to only book/use the Tier 1 or you book all 3 but then cancel the other 1 or 2, it will simply show (either on your phone or at the kiosk) that you have already selected one from that category and only give you Tier 2's to choose from. Again though, tiers don't seem to carry over if you switch parks so if you book a Tier 1, use it, then cancel the others, you can immediately book a Tier 1 in another park.

2. HOWEVER - I did find out today that as long as you're past the window for your Tier 2's, and use your Tier 1, you can then book another Tier 1 in the same park. But...once you do that, you lose the Tier 2's. They still show but every time I tried to see if I could change them to a later time then I got an error message. So I booked Turtle Talk for 9:30, Pixar for 10:30 and Land for 2. Once I used Land (I didn't get to Epcot until almost 2) I could immediately book Illuminations or Mission Space (or other Tier 1's). But although my 9:30 Turtle Talk still showed, it wouldn't let me change it. So if you can arrange your schedule to get past the time windows, you could effectively only ride one Tier 1 and then get another one. But then you'd be stuck in the "one at a time" thing for the rest of the day.

So you don't actually have to USE all 3 but have to be past the window of all 3 or used them all.

Hope this helps and please let me know if anything isn't clear! @hiroMYhero @ScrapYap
:thanks: Marcie for all your research for the SDFPers!!

Ok I have read through this thread carefully and I think I understand. I wanted to clarify one thing. I have 2 old no-expiration tickets from 1996. If I bring these tickets and exchange them for plastic card tickets at guest services and do not use them as tickets to enter the park (we already have 6 day tickets attached to my MDE) will I be able to prebook FP each night if I connect them to my sisters non-connected MDE? Then can I use them for FP during the day and then once we are done with FP in the park each day make more FP for the next day and just keep doing that as long as we never use those tickets to enter the park?

Just offering a heads up. I had changed a partially used park hopper w/waterpark non-expiring tickets to a RFID ticket about 18 months ago. I recently assigned the ticket to a phantom in my MDE and tried to prebook a FP with it. Didn't work. I called IT and they said the ticket had nothing remaining on it. I have absolute confidence the ticket has not been used since the change. Be sure if/when you change these to RFID tickets that they don't treat it as though it was used to enter the park that day. I will bring it this ticket with me when I go in 12 days and try to get this cleared up.

Thank you very much for all the detailed information. Truly appreciate it.

Thanks ScrapYap and the gang for your FP+ generator information. I "snuck in" a 2nd set of park tickets to use on a future trip and the FP+ worked like a charm. My family thought I was crazy but I think they were happy not having to wait in long lines with a 4 and 2 year old.

As an added bonus, my wife sprained her ankle on the queue to TSMM and Disney gave us 3 extra anytime FP+ for each remaining day in the park. So instead of 6 FP+ per day we had 12 FP+.....can you imagine? Should have made some new best friends on our trip because we couldn't use all of the riches bestowed upon us.

So, you can apply a partially used ticket to a phantom?

I admit I have not read all 16 pages. If anyone is willing to help me, I truly appreciate it. We are going down in a few weeks and have our own fast passes with our own three selections prefer soon.

We are a party of 10. One friend sent me the six MB their family used on their recent trip. Another friend sent me for MBs from her recent trip. Our intention is to use these other magic bands to select one attraction per person each day.

Do I need to have some kind of login information for these extra bands?

You don't have to have login - you can just tap the MBs at a kiosk to get SDFP+. If you want to change your SDFP+ online (after making them at the kiosk), you'd need your friends' log ins.

You don't have to read all 16 pages, but you might want to look over the first page of the original thread:

PS The recent changes will allow you to book just one SDFP+ (rather than the previously required three) per person if that's what you want.

Just a word of warning - partially used non-expiring tickets can only be assigned in MDE once. Since they have been used, they aren't allowed to be moved to another friend or family member in your MDE account.

Make sure you have everything set up the correct way before assigning the partially used ticket in your MDE account.

I have asked about this and have been assured by multiple people that an unused ticket can be reassigned to another person and then assigned back to the original owner later. We have AP's and I had to buy a five day park hopper in order to book a free dining bounceback for an upcoming family trip. As soon as that park hopper becomes active I plan to assign it to a phantom in my MDE account. That phantom has a MagicBand and I will be able to use that ticket to book fp+'s. Once my AP expires on Nov 30th I will be able to reassign the park hopper to myself and then use it to renew my AP. In the meantime the park hopper can be used to generate fp+'s.

Look in your MDE account and see if you have the option to assign your unused ticket to someone else. If they are package tickets then you have to wait until your package becomes active before you can assign the tickets to someone else.

It can be reassigned if it has not been used. A non-expiring ticket that has been used, but never attached to an MDE account can only be assigned once. You can't assign it to a phantom and then reassign it to yourself later. Just learned this the hardway :(

Thank you for the link. And other answers. I'll read this.

ETA - I do NOT have any tickets associated with spare bands.

In that case, could you change the name on the phantom to your name, or part of your name so you could use it? I'm still new to all this, and I know I'm going to make some costly mistakes!

If my friend has an AP, and we are connected through Friends and Family, and I am able to modify his fast passes, but do not have his band or card, can I book fast passes 30 days out under his profile, and then reassign his pre booked fast passes via the app to a non-ticketed phantom after I have made 3 SDFPs in the park on a kiosk as long as it is in the same park?

Or does this sound really crazy?

I know I can try to cancel the fast passes from the AP and pick them up day of via kiosk for the phantom, or try to swap SDFP via the app, but there is the possibility of losing them.

Really interesting question. I haven't played with the new "Change Party" aspect of things enough to know. I've wondered that too. We have AP's and sometimes have someone coming to visit who hasn't purchased tickets yet. I book FPP's just under my and my husband's accounts 30 days out and have them use his but have wondered if I could change his to the guest's once they get the ticket. But I've been afraid to try since usually I'd only do this for things I really wanted and didn't want to lose like Test Track or 7 Dwarves. I'm going to MK on Thursday and have some extra FPP's to play with. If I have time I'll try to see if I can do that. Not a critical ride but something that would be "sold out" by that time - so if I'm there at 4 and have a FPP for Speedway at 5 I know I wouldn't be able to get it but could see if I could book a random SDFP for something else and then change my party members to that and if I lose it not be devastated. Sorry if I'm babbling - I'm trying to run it through in my mind. I'll let you know!
