Well if I can't take advantage of the scam then I hope it's fixed by June for everyone will have equal chances for ride access.

LOL wait really, or are you being sarcastic?

It's not a scam, it's a loophole that Disney doesn't close. Most Disney - goers know to schedule FP ahead of time so it's not taking top pick away from them, those that don't will be scheduling their FP in the morning of so have the same pool as others, and it has to be a very small percentage of guest using this loophole. I'm not using this loophole personally, although I may use my FIL's FP if he leaves earlier in the day then we do. If Disney wanted to stop this, they would be more strict with monitering the names that come up...

I respect someone who considers it wrong and wouldn't do it period, but find it funny that you only want it fixed if you can't do it yourself.

Lol I'm just jealous that I can't take advantage of the loop hole. That's all.

So I have a trip booked a bunch of old bands that are still showing up under MDE account. Do I need to make another MDE account? If they are already there can I link them somehow to make an additional set of FPs? I'm clearly missing something :rolleyes2

When we were there in November, all four of us had 3 anytime FP+ in addition to our regular scheduled 3 FP+. So, basically 6 per day -- 3 of which didn't have to be scheduled or subject to tiers. We know we'll never have it that good again and I'm tempted to do this, but here is my issue... I'm determined to take it easier/slower than usual this trip and I fear that will backfire on me if I'm trying to schedule additional same-day FPs. Also, just keeping track of which MBs to use for which rides (pulling them out and switching them -- I wouldn't have the balls to wear one on each arm, LOL). Lastly, we got Memory Maker this trip and we'd have to either switch the bands out again for the actual ride (or make sure to swipe the right bands when the ride was over) or add our other account users (a/k/a "us") as friends/family to the regular account. Just more work than I want to do, I think. However, I can't blame you all one bit for taking advantage of this loophole while it's there.

I'm kind of going through that, too. Just not sure if the hassle is worth it. Based on touringplans.com only one of our days has semi long waits. But I can totally see the value in it. I'd probably do it for the one day if I had some I could use already.

Just an update that this is what I was able to get on Easter Sunday (today) at 12:42 in MK. Any top rides (all 3 mountains still available) had return times after 7 pm. But I wouldn't consider these horrible rides, especially when looking at wait times. Editing to add that my goal was to get immediate things since we're trying to get to Epcot for a 530 concert.

I have a strong feeling this loophole will get closed with the plan to allow people to make 4th FPs from their phones. I've been worried that it's going to be very hard to get 4th FPs after the change because so many more people will do it so I've been watching FP availability pretty closely. It looks like a lot of FPs for 2nd and 3rd tier rides are going unused. This is a resource Disney has that's essentially going to waste so maybe that's why they haven't cared about fixing the loophole (and they're selling MBs). But I think MDE 4th FPs are going to change that equation because not as many will go to waste and being more scarce, Disney will not want people taking extras. I could be completely wrong, but that's my guess. Although I'm also surprised they haven't monetized FP in some way (get 3 extra FPs for the low, low price of $149) so I don't necessarily have my finger on the pulse of Disney decision making.

I can see how people view it as being "wrong" but if Disney thought it was, they would revert back to the old system with keycards that linked to your room. I would think it would be hard for Disney to close this loophole.
They would have to make sure that every MB being linked to MDE has valid park admission on the account. And track down the people in the party and want ID on everyone. I see it as alot of work to close the loop.

I am just not sure I can see a way for the loophole to be closed....How would the 4th FP option from your app close it?

I'm hoping to use it in September...

if I add 2 phantom guests to my resort reservation, but remove them from the room reservtions once they ship all the magicbands to me, can I still use the 2 magicbands as SDFPs or do I have to keep them on my room reservation?

My mom is someone I manage on my account and she doesn't have her own account. She has multiple bands but won't be on an upcoming trip. Could I use two of hers for myself and another person on this trip? Or will they see her as linked to me in some way? OR will it only allow me to use one of hers and I'd have to have another?

I would think it would be very easy to close it for many of the cases. Just require that an MB be linked to valid park tickets when tapped at the kiosk before offering the 3 FPs. Whether or not they could easy check to see if it was used for park admission is another matter (I think others have said that would be very hard to do and I can believe that). You'd still have loopholes even with requiring linking but you'd close it to people buying MBs or using friends and relatives who haven't purchased tickets.

This is just speculation on my part - I'm no Disney insider. And it has nothing to do, technically, with 4th FP by phone, just that they are changing the software so could incorporate other changes. I'm an engineer so I'm just "tinkering" with the problem mentally. I have been trying to figure out why Disney hasn't changed this in 2 years. I'm trying to figure out what's in it for them in not changing it.

Maybe the reason why Disney doesn't see it as a big deal is because at the cheapest being $12.99 a person (if you don't have access to family or friends old MB) they are "selling" FP. They make money off it so why change it (in their minds). And the FP are available to everyone on same day (whatever is leftover from pre-booking) maybe they just don't see it as a top priority. Now if people could pre-book on the fake account, that'd be an issue they would want to solve. It is baffling though how easily attainable this second set of FP are.

I just stumbled on this thread (and the original from 2014) and I feel like its Christmas morning! Have 8 MBs from a previous trip in 2014 (and all made on another MDE account because I couldn't remember the login when it was time to book the new one) that we will be using! How did I miss this for 2 1/2 years?!?!?!?!?

If all of her MagicBands are assigned to her name then all of her MagicBands are clones of each other. In that case you would only be able to use one of her MagicBands for SDFP.

I thought that would be the case. I have a completely unused and unlinked magic band I could use, but it's not attached to am mde. Guess I could put it on my boyfriend's mde; he's not going this trip either.

Thanks!!
